Why Stm32CubeMx doesn't work with Java 9 (9.0.4)?

I can't use Java 8 for some reason. Many other useful applications like eclipse are compatible with the newest Java version.

Fails with new Win10 PC... Tests some (or all?) JRE Versions... switch over to NXP Chips and Software -> solved

-> JRE 8 LTS -> not working (readme excludes only subversion 251)

-> JDK 11 LTS (no JRE available) -> working

-> newest java version -> not working
