Reading internal temp of stm32 mcu gives you idea of the temp of pcb

Hi community.

I would like to know if reading the internal temp of the mcu (using the right channel of the adc) can give you an accurate idea of the temperature of the pcb where the mcu is mounted.

Is it accurate this temp?

Is it sensistive to other effects ?

Does it work to use this information?

Thanks a lot for your reply

Probably pretty awful.

Used TMP116 (1/128 C resolution) and BMI160 (1/512 C resolution) devices here. Many IMU type devices have temperature sensors

Dear @SGasp.1 ,

This application note may interest you :

https://www.st.com/resource/en/application_note/an5036-thermal-management-guidelines-for-stm32-applications-stmicroelectronics.pdf

you can read Tj ( jonction die ) temperature and then using the data inside the Datasheet you may estimate board temperature if you have models of your PCB for thermal study.

hope it helps you .
