My micro-controller on the STM32 Nucleo-F446RE development board starts heating up as soon as I connect it to my laptop. Does the heating of the controller means that the board is now damaged?

I tried changing the data cable but it didn't work. Also all the jumpers are connected in the same position I received it. I have not altered any connection on the board and also never connected any peripheral to the board.

Does the heating of the controller means that the board is now damaged?

That's not normal.

Generally indicative of an internal short, or a regulator failure.

If you have a multi-meter you could check voltages.
