emulator with trace
2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Hi ST1,
we are searching for a trace emulator for the stm32. I think Signum has a good trace emulator with stm32 support (with ITM and ETM), but it was very expensive for a ''low cost'' chip like stm32. I found on the homepage of Signum an ARM Evaluation Kit ''JTAGjet- Trace-STM''. The price is $2.500,- (normal price > $3.500,-). So I asked Signum, if it can be used with stm32. Here is the answer: > This was a special OEM version of JTAGjet-Trace which was > designed for ST. ST commissioned Raisonance to supply a > complete solution for STR9 including our JTAGjet-Trace. So we > built them a special firmware inside to limit its operation to STR9 > devices only and sold it for $2,500. > > This item is only available from ST or its distributors. Now my question to ST is, if it is possible to make this trace emulator available for the stm32-community. I think it is only a question of licensing and not of hardware/software, because Signum supports already the stm32. Thanks!2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Dear Tibo,
Thank for your detailed request. Me too I have an JTAGJetTrace working with STR9 but not yet for STM32 High-density devices that supports trace/ETM. I will note your point and check my colleagues if we can negociate with Signum to provide this service and a full package with STM32. However I can suggest you to check with Segger in germany at www.segger.com : (Less than 1000Euros) , I believe that they are already working on STM32. I can also advice you to use Serial Wire Viewer for extreme low-cost solution but with limited features at : Hope this is us useful for you :) Cheers, STOne-32 ... Welcome to our recently 8-bit STM8S Family too :)
