freeRTOS on STM32H7 getting thrown into Default Handler

CLeo.1
Senior II

Hi guys,

looks after using "portYIELD_FROM_ISR(pxHigherPriorityTaskWoken);" the program gets thrown into this

PORT: ARM_CM7

HEAP: HEAP4

0693W00000FBGJVQA5.jpg

.section  .text.Default_Handler,"ax",%progbits
Default_Handler:
Infinite_Loop:
  b  Infinite_Loop
  .size  Default_Handler, .-Default_Handler

I have no idea the cause of this and would appreciate any tips or advice how to remedy this

The ISR in question:

extern "C" void DMA1_Stream0_IRQHandler() {

	uint8_t temp = 1;

	BaseType_t pxHigherPriorityTaskWoken = pdFALSE;
	LL_DMA_ClearFlag_TC0(DMA1);

	portYIELD_FROM_ISR(pxHigherPriorityTaskWoken);

}

Look at startup.s, all the weak, uncommitted IRQ Handlers point to Default_Handler, its likely to be the dumping ground for dozens or hundreds of IRQs, not just the WatchDog.

Make 2 or 3 Handlers, sub-divide the weak linkages so you can reduces the possible candidates, rinse-and-repeat as you eliminate possible sources, bisection.

Review the NVIC registers, see the ARM manuals also, should be able to identify the specific source.

So that either isn't the name of the interrupt that gets fired, or the linkage isn't occurring.

Look at the .MAP, generate a listing file, and verify the binding.

Might be able to unpack the IRQ flagging the NVIC, consider writing a Default_Handler() than can output actionable data, rather than dump to infinite loop.

Could perhaps also do a quick bisection in startup.s by funnelling the unclaimed interrupt slots, in groups, to Default_HandlerA, Default_HandlerB, Default_HandlerC, in the least number of moves.

OOf, first time trying to run RTOS. Ill try my best to give you what you need but I might need more further specific instruction how to get some stuff

I guess the main question is that which IRQ handler is trying to execute right? Is it not the watchdog IRQ? Ill post my .map file and my startup I was browsing around it but not talent enough to see what I am looking for

So just debugging through, this is the function right before the default handler is it.  prvCheckTasksWaitingTermination(); in the task.c file

Alright, I believe its the HardFault Handler. When commented out it no longer goes to the default handler. Checked with the other handlers, commented them out still going to the default handler.

Ahh, you know what. I thought this was related to the setup of freeRTOS its actually my own dumb mistake, of accessing a pointer that doesnt exist. I am sorry. Its working now, once I found the issue within my OWN CODE, not RTOS
