Communications appears fine; I get the following from BlueNRG-1 ST-LINK Utility (version 2.0.0.0):
ST-LINK SN : 067......
ST-LINK Firmware version: V2J33M25
Conncetd via SWD.
SWD Frequency = 100 KHz.
Connection mode : Connect with Pre-Reset.
Debug in Low Power mode enabled.
Unknown device ID!
Am able to use VL53L1X_ Gui app successfully on same NUCLEO board.

Perhaps you should get a newer version of the ST-LINK Utilities, current is 4.5.0.0
Where the firmware is blocking access, try connect-under-reset, or pulling BOOT0 High
Up vote any posts that you find helpful, it shows what's working..
