Datasheet & Guidance for MX66UW1G45G on STM32N6-DK

Dear STMicroelectronics Community / Support Team,

I hope you are doing well.

I am currently working with the STM32N6 Discovery Kit and noticed that it uses an external Octal NOR flash device with the part number MX66UW1G45G. However, I have been unable to locate a public datasheet for this exact component.

I was able to find datasheets for similar parts such as MX66U1G45G and MX66UM1G45G, but not for the “UW” variant used on the board. This has led to some confusion regarding the exact specifications, supported features, and command set of the device.

I would appreciate your guidance on the following points:

  1. Is MX66UW1G45G a custom or internal part number used specifically for STM32 evaluation boards?
  2. Is there a publicly available datasheet for this device, or can it be shared upon request?
  3. Can MX66UM1G45G (or another publicly documented part) be considered a fully compatible equivalent for development purposes?
  4. Are there any specific differences (e.g., command set, timing, interface behavior) that I should be aware of when writing low-level drivers?
  5. If I plan to use the STM32N6 DK as a prototype and later design my own PCB, that's why I need to very clear about the exact part number, and does it exists publically?

My goal is to develop a reliable driver and potentially use the same (or equivalent) flash memory in a custom hardware design, so having clarity on this component is very important.

Thank you for your time and support. I look forward to your response.

Best regards,
Zaeem Ahmed

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Hello @Zaeem-Ahmed and welcome to the community;

I think the MX66UW1G45GXDI00 datasheet is confidential, I suggest you to check with memory provider.

The MX66UW1G45G driver is not completely compatible with MX66UM1G45G at least the dummy cycles have to be changed.

I hope this help you.

Thank you

Hi Kaouthar, thanks for your reply.
Macronix says that for this part, you have to request the data, and I did, but no response!
I don't understand why Macronix kept it confidential, and if this part is not publicly available, then why would ST use it in their development kit for us to practice on this chip?
I would appreciate your help if you could tell that ST can provide me the datasheet upon request?
Actually, I am trying to build a custom board while I am practicing on the development kit so that the PCB arrives once I am ready, and I want to use this flash in my board as this is the same chip used in the development kit.
Best regards,
Zaeem Ahmed

Hello @Zaeem-Ahmed;

I recommend you to refer to the STM32N6570-DK schematic may help you to develop your custom board.

Hi Kaouthar, thanks for your reply.
But the problem is not about the schematics or PCB design; the problem is that I need to develop my application, and I need to have the datasheet for that.
I mean, to work with this IC, I need the datasheet. Currently, I am working on the dicover kit, and for this product states that
"The STM32N6570-DK Discovery kit is a complete demonstration and development platform for the Arm® Cortex®‑M55 core‑based STM32N657X0H3Q microcontroller."
But I am unable to develop Octo Flash-based applications as there is no datasheet for that. Why would ST offer a kit in which one of IC's datasheet is confidential while the kit is publicly available?

Hi, Andrew Neil, thanks for your response.

I visited this link, but there is no datasheet available to download.

It says to contact Macronix, and I did earlier, but there has been no response.

Best regards,
Zaeem Ahmed.

Hi,

I'm also interested in the datasheet for the NOR flash part.

I've also filled out the contact form, but no reply; probably you have to be large distributor to receive attention.

BR!
