Any ST boards with E-SIM ?

avbST

Hi

I'm looking for STM32 Nucleo boards or similar microcontroller boards that have embedded SIM (eSIM) capabilities. However, I haven't been able to find any boards that directly support eSIM integration. Are there any Nucleo boards that are compatible with eSIM modules like ST4SIM, and how can I identify or find them?

Thanks and Regards

Hello @avbST

I think you are looking for the B-L462E-CELL1 | Product (this product is not recommended for a new design) or the P-L496G-CELL02.

Best Regards.

Hi @STTwo-32

Thank you for your time and response. I wanted to utilize E-SIM functionality and also perform other operation possible on a Nucelo board. So, I just wanted to know if there is any such Nucelo board with an integrated E-SIM, or cellular modules such as P-L496G-CELL02 is the only way to integrate ST4SIM or an E-SIM in a Nucelo board

Thanks and Regard

@avbST

On NUCLEO board, we don't integrate an external module.

Best Regards.

What, exactly, do you mean by that?

Surely, "e-SIM functionality" only makes sense in a cellular modem?

I don't think ST makes any cellular modems, so they wouldn't have any Dev Boards for them.

The  B-L462E-CELL1 and P-L496G-CELL02 both use 3rd-party cellular modems.

So perhaps you need to be talking to 3rd-party cellular modem suppliers?

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Yes I wanted to know if ST makes cellular modems too along with ST4SIM so that I could communicate this cellular module with my ST Nucleo Board

As I said, I think not - but perhaps @STTwo-32 can confirm?

I confirm, there is not an STM32 wireless MCU for Cellular communication (similar to the WB for BLE and WL for the long-range Sub-GHz).

Best Regards.

Also no ST module?
