Hi ,

We have one of our a main line product is based on ST25R3911B-AQFT.

Now while placing order we have found that this product is marked as "NRND".

Our product is already in market and now need assistance for replacement part for further manufacturing.

So need suggestions on any similar product which will meet following criteria:

  1. Pin count and physical dimension
  2. IC internal register and functionality

Moreover we have spent lot of efforts on achieving a decent card reading range with a smaller dimension antenna , that's why looking for a substitute part that matches more with respective to IC internal functionality.

Thanks and Regards,

Vaibhav

Hi, @vaibh_p.

the ST25R3911B-AQFT was set to NRND due to the package that does not yet offer wettable flanks. It has been replaced by the ST25R3911B-AQWT, providing exactly the same functionality due to the same die inside.

So you can relax and simply change your order to the new order code mentioned above.

Thanks Peter for your response.

I have checked for ST25R3911B-AQWT but I have found that it is currently out of stock and there also no distributor for it.

I have also checked on major online distributors like mouser , arrow , element14 , but all of them don't have it in their stock.

Please do not confuse general availability with availability from stock.

The current situation of availability at distributors is caused by several factors, the most important of which is the current pandemic. This means that you can order the components, but unfortunately you have to expect a longer delivery time.

Thanks Peter for the information.

Please suggest one last thing , can you suggest us the another part that closely similar to ST25R3911B ?

As St25R3911B-AQWT seems to be taking longer time to get into the market , so that we can proceed with alternative part with minimal hardware as well as software changes.

Thanks and Regards,

Vaibhav

Well, it depends on your requirements if there is an alternative.

You could verify these while checking e.g. ST25R3912, ST25R3914/5, ST25R3916 or ST25R3920.

In some cases there are migration guides as well, due to some improvements, some are also not pin compatible.

Hi vaibh_p,

you could just move with the remaining ST25R3911B-AQFT samples. They are really identical to the AQWT. The latter allow easier optical inspection of the soldering.

For the devices mentioned by Peter, the  ST25R3912ST25R3914/5 are compatible from software perspective and pin-to-pin compatible (unless a specific feature is removed), just check your used features against the offered features.

For  ST25R3916 or ST25R3920 it gets more complicated - they require changes on the board, have a different register interface but once you have gone past our RFAL I don't expect that you need to change your application software.
