Bluetooth module compatible for STEVAL-25R3916B board

Okami

Hi there,

I have a brand new STEVAL-25R3916B main board for my project which require NFC capabilities and Bluetooth (BLE) v5.x conectivity. According the user guide [User guide - Page 5] on the rear side of the board there is room for a bluethooth module however I could not find any info about the part number of the BLE module. I hope ST still manufacture BLE modules for this board otherwise I would need a compatible module. So please, provide me what modules are complatible, available and currently supported for this board.

Thank you in advance.

Hello,

Unfortunately ST does not manufacture BLE Module anymore, on the new Mother board version we had to suppress the BLE Module footprint on the new version of this board in production right now.

By the way, the ST Eval discovery board are not really meant to prototype but if you need to create specific prototypes and add/try many different functionalities on it i encourage you to choose X-NUCLEO boards instead.

You could for example take the X-NUCLEO-NFC08 which embed the ST25R3916B and stack on it a BLE board like STEVAL-IDB012 or others boards with others functionnalities of your need

Best regards,

Alan

It (and the WiFi module) is listed in the BoM:

Although @Alan BST says they're discontinued, it seems you might still be able find some in stock; eg,

Of course, there's nothing to stop you adding BLE using any other module of your choice ...

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
