SPV1040 Question

I have a solar panel the generates about 5V @ 200mA, trying to use the solar panel (5V/200mA) and charge a single cell lithium battery with a capacity of 5000mA. Can the SPV1040 device handle this task? Thank you.

Well, your assumption is not necessarily wrong, but usually not sufficient. LiIO and LiPo require more precise regulation of the current and especially the voltage, which is why a dedicated battery charger chip is connected afterwards for this case.

Do you think it would be sufficient to use the SPV1040 as the charger and then a common Li-ion protection module (for over charge, over discharge, short circuit and over current protection) to address these issues?

@m0ss As long as the voltage on the SPV1040 does not exceed the maximum value of 5.5V, you can safely operate Li-Ion modules with it. However, you should take a close look at the specifications - if something like this is available for the modules, most of which come from Asia.
