"Class D" Inverter?

The BOOM
Associate III

I need a 100 kHz, sinusoidal AC constant-voltage power supply, feeding an inductive load.

Can i make a power inverter designed like a class D audio amplifier.

Except, instead of a speaker, it's a hungry power load that wants up to 20A, 5V AC power.

Can any chip or set of chips make this easy, for a 100W inverter?

  • power source: 12V to 24V DC RMS
  • analog input: 100 kHz sinusoid
  • output: 0V to 5V RMS sinusoid, 100W
  • up to 4 parallel inductive loads
  • up to 5A per load x 4 loads = 20A max, continuous
  • 20A x 5V = 100W continuous
  • Inductive loads are coupled inductors

I assume to regulate output voltage, i would change the amplitude of the input sinewave.

Looking for lowest-parts-count solution.
