Hi Everyone!
Even if this is just a minor inconsistency issue I would love to clarify it and might achieve an improved datasheet in the end.
During our footprint review we found some inconsistent information about the chosen EMI filter EMIF06-MSD02N16.So, the CAD files are in Rev 1.0 from 2021 and we are not referring to that Altium example anyhow. In the datasheet, lastly editied in 2022, we are missing the information about the three GND pads and how to handle the two outer smaller ones. Sure, just add it to our footprint would be a pragmatic answer. Does the community have other thoughts? I summearized the information that we found at st.com: Datasheet
So before we are just adding these pads to be soldered in flexible manner, we are now wondering if:
- the outer GND pad are needed at all
- if they are internally connected anyhow
- if mechanical stability is the only purpose
- if they might be for shielding only
