Chances of changing data direction register in ST7F2561R9

Hi

i am using ST7F2561R9 in my application.

I am using Cosmic compiler.

In my application i am counting pulses from port D (Pin 4-7).

while counting pulses AC motor is contineously running.

I found while counting pulses randomly (it can be anything after 3 hours to 4 days)my application stops counting pulses.

Is there any chance for data register direction get change?
