KBI (keyboard interrupt), how to do it?
2011-05-17 02:50 AM
I need to create a device that supports a very low power mode (sleep). The device is to wake on keypress. I am used to the Philips LPC line that provides a KBI. Is there any way to do this with an ST Micro part?? My other requirements are USB and 2 UARTS which is why I am here in the first place. I don't have many keypad return lines (only 4 or 5) so 4 or 5 interrupt inputs that can wake the processor would be fine.

Hello Grantb4,
I`m having a very similar problem regarding the Remote WakeUp from Suspend-Mode (PowerDownMode with current consumption I just asked the ST support and I`m still hoping for getting a quick solution. I will keep you informed. Maybe you could do the same for me. Oliver2011-05-17 02:50 AM
Hello Grantb4,
I think I`ve got bad news from ST-Support. Designing a LowPower device that should meet the USB spec. does not seem to be possible with µPSD34xx. When using PowerDownMode (< 0,5mA) you will neither realize a Resume initiated by the host, nor an external WakeUp by KB Pin. Only Idle Mode is possible for both wake up procedures, but Idle mode needs more than 12mA and violates the USB spec. Finally you can only use it for SelfPowered Designs, which are using their own power supply. Best regards, Oliver
