Can the surge suppressor DSL05-024SC6 be used as a Bridge Rectifier and what are its limits?

Welcome @schmitta, to the community!

Theoretically, you could actually use the DSL05-024SC6 as a bridge rectifier, but as you have already seen in the data sheet, it is not specified for this.

Now there are two possibilities:

  • you are a maker or hobbyist: use the DSL05-024SC6 for a few milliamps only and up to a peak voltage of 4…5 volts under Vbr, here ~20…21V
  • you are a professional: use it only as a TVS for the intended applications

Hope that helps?
