Did you mean:

The IIS2DH measures G force so when I move it on my desk I expect to get a reading change on X-axis. However I also get an oscillation on Z axis which I didn't expect. The steady-state on Z is 270 (2G FS). It oscillates between 242 and 316.

Hi @Community member ,

Are you expressing your measures in LSB or mg (I suppose mg)?

The device ZRL should be maximum 90 mg, so along Z you should see 1000 mg (Earth's gravity) +-90mg, not 270mg... are you in flat position? Are you applying any HP filters?

Hi,

The board is in a flat position. The accelerometer is programmed for 2G sensitivity. Under gravity, I would expect the Z-axis to read 256 corresponding to 1000mg I think. It actually reads 270 which I guess is within tolerance.

My question really, is this:

If the board remains flat when I move it on the desk, I would expect a change of reading in X and Y. However, I get oscillation on Z which I wasn't expecting. As I said, it oscillates between 242 and 316. (That is Z-axis register reading, not mg)
