It should be the IIS2MDC part number. If so, the two devices are quite different, so you have to use different drivers to communicate with them. You can check the respective datasheets and the Github drivers for the correct interface of this other product.
But to be sure of the right part number, in case you are testing the parts soldered on ST adapters, please note that for the LIS2DW12 it is called STEVAL-MKI179V1, while the one for the IIS2MDC is named STEVAL-MKI185V1.
