Info for ST87M01

Dear ST,

I am searching for  LTE module , basic data transfer is to send 2Kb of data using mqtt and perform http opeartion. I have got to know about ST87M01 LTE module, for getting started i got the evaluation board EVKITST87M01-2 i have few doubts before getting it 

1) Can i use Vi, Jio or Airtel sim card with it.

2) In some series it is showing esim, so does it have built-in esim or need to add it in design externally.

3) can i interface ST4SI2M0020TPIFW esim with it.

4) If i done with prototype with it, can i get the design and component availability for large.

5) Documents for gettign started with ST87M01 and ST4SI2M0020TPIFW esim.

Hello Shubham08,

ST87M01 is a LTE-NBIOT platform (it should not be confused with LTE CAT-M1). It is enough to send 2Kb of data, but keep in mind that NBIOT is a technology offering a lower date rate (compared to LTE CAT-M1), but achieving a longer range, using less energy and less expensive. This is not the same targeted applications.

You must check with the operators if they propose NBIOT coverage in your country, and what is the best SIM with a data plan adapted to your needs.

For your project, the eSIM will be connected externally (we support also classic SIM) to the ST87M01.

ST guarantees a 15 years availability.

Dear @Didier HERROUIN ,

1) Initially in the ST87M01 module the firmware is preprogrammed or it need to be flashed manually 

2) If i ordered the pcb from the gerber provided for the evaluation kit and soldered can i connect with the  STSW-ST87MGUI

Yes, ST87M01 module is pre-programmed by STMicroelectronics during the manufacturing process with a default firmware version. However, you may need to update this firmware to a newer version to incorporate functional improvements, additional features, or security enhancements.

The eval kit can be directly connected to the PC GUI, using a standard USB cable.
