Can TOF sensors such as VL53L1X and VL53L5CX be cleaned with alcohol and/or cleaning wipes or be submerged in cleaning alcohol?

It's better not to do that. We put that bit of tape over the sensor so you don't have to worry about it during manufacturing, And then we anticipate that you will have a coverglass protect the device during its lifetime.
I have in fact cleaned a VL53L1 with alcohol, and it worked, but the worry is that the chemical will cloud and distort those optical filters.
YOu could probably get away with it - if it were your last choice, but try to find a way to keep them clean. it would be better in the long run.
