Valid login details ignored

This has happened before, but I can't seem to find the thread.

At the forum login, I enter correct details.

The forum thinks for a while, then just re-presents the blank login form - no messages about invalid details.

Happened just now, and once last week.

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

I very much agree.
And since I'm a "free agent" and not an employee, my response is totally up to me.

On a related note, a few months ago my company, having a few thousand employees in several locations, abandoned this practice (expiry every 3 months) as well. Probably due to negative experiences - which usually means increased costs.

Add this frequent change to very strict password rules (length, characters, etc.), and you create the very opposite effect - people quickly forget their passwords, because this is contrary to how the human mind works.
Which on one hand created a torrent of helpdesk requests because users could not login anymore.
And worse, other noted their enforced "arbitrarily complex" password down on paper or a text file ...

This morning's experience:

  1. A noticeable delay before the login form appeared
  2. Password accepted on 1st attempt, but then the 'Page not found' error
  3. finally logged-in on the second  'Reload' attempt.

That happens to me occasionally, but not really rarely to be honest.
I use to blame it to ST-internal or general internet traffic issues, so I don't usually mention it.

I refresh the forum page once or twice after the alleged timeout, and "suddenly" I'm logged in.

It seems to come in "waves".

I've been suffering a "wave" over the last week or so.

@Lina_DABASINSKAITE - everything went smoothly this morning!
