Hey All,So I know it's mentioned in the data sheet that the stm32mp1xx MPU's only support 16/32 bit DDR ram, and that it also mentions the limit of 1GByte total ram,  but I just wanted to confirm this isn't possible and specifically why as I cannot find out much about what is the limiting factor here. For example this IC:https://au.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Intelligent-Memory/IM8G08D3FFDG-125I?qs=Y0Uzf4wQF3k9cXZekshqqQ%3D%3DAlternatively, could I push it up to 2GBytes by adding an additional MPU with its on 1GB of ram whilst also pushing it up as a quad core system? And if so, what the best communication method would be between them. Thanks in advance for any help!

Hi,Im using STM32L031F6P6 mcu for one of my project. Im also using IIS2MDCTR & LSM6DSV16BTR sensor.I need to find heading regarding that i have few doubts.1.Will STM32L031F6 mcu support mems1 package?if no could you suggest a mcu which support the same?2.If mems1 package is not supported by this mcu , is there any libraries available to find heading ?

I would like to use the G030C8T6 MCU to use ICS current sampling. Currently, the MCSDK 6.2.1 does not seem to support it. What should I do？@cedric H

Hello everyone. The case may be known, but if it helps...After activating the Master Clock Output (1 or 2) in STM32CubeIDE on PLLP, no signal is present on RCC_MCO output. After analysis the PLL must be activated by adding the initialization in a User Code if no device dependent on this PLL is used (ADC, I2S1 or I2S2):__HAL_RCC_PLLCLKOUT_ENABLE(RCC_PLLPCLK);Regards.

Hi,If I could find some information about the implementation of the ZeST algorithm, I could try to infer whether it can be used on the B-G431B-ESC1 looking its schematic, but I can't find anything about it. So, will this new algorithm be available on the B-G431B-ESC1 board, or it needs some specific hardware to measure some extra parameter? If I deduced correctly, the ZeST algorithm is able to calculate the angle of the motor's shaft, I guess that having into account the effect the inductance change produces on the signal, like a variable inductor dependent on the shaft's angle, is that right? Thanks!

I saw on NUCLEO-U5A5 schematics - there is a level shifter for signal T_VCP_TX:a bit obvious: if MCU jumper is set to run on 1V8 VDD - an external UART receiver (e.g. CP2102N) would not get anymore correct UART_TX signals (yes, it does not anymore with 1V8 logic on TX).Wouldn't it be enough to use an Open Drain signal on MCU (for UART_TX) and an external pull-up to 3V3?The UART_RX should be OK, even MCU on 1V8 MCU VDD, but assuming RX is 5V tolerant. Here what I mean - and it works!Just configure the UART_TX as GPIO_MODE_AF_OD and it should work also without a need for a level shifter (with external pull-up).

I am running macOS Sonoma and using PlatformIO within Visual Studio Code.I have multiple STM32 microcontrollers connected via ST-LINKs to a USB hub¹. My ST-LINK USB devices are correctly listed in 1) the USB Device Tree within the macOS System Information, and 2) via Terminal when using `st-info --probe`.I am also able to utilise these ST-LINKs to upload code to a single microcontroller individually. Even when all are connected I am able to upload code to one of these microcontrollers. However, this happens semi-randomly. I cannot specify to which of these connected microcontrollers my code is being uploaded.I am aware that I need a serial device address to define `upload_port` in my platformio.ini file. To find this address I am using `ls -l /dev/cu.*` in the Terminal. But the only port being returned is `/dev/cu.Bluetooth-Incoming-Port`.Why isn’t `ls -l /dev/cu.*` showing the serial addresses of my connected ST-LINK devices? After several days of troubleshooting without any success, I

Hello, which interfaces does a virgin STM32C0 in SO8N offer on the first boot for programming? AN2606 says USART1 and I2C1. In other cases, AN2606 adds a note when SWD does not work, but no such note is there for STM32C0. So, I assume SWD is supported too. However, while SWD is on PA13 and PA14 and I2C1 is on PB6 and PB7, PA14 and PB6 is muxed to the same pin in the SO8N package. So, this seems like a conflict. Did I understand something wrong? If SWD is not supported in the bootloader, is there a way to prevent the bootloader (for example, with the BOOT0 pin)? I want to put SWD on a pin header for debugging anyway and it would be annoying to need extra pins just for the initial programming.

I'm using an STM32H745 and have developed the Boot code, which works as expected when built as part of an application.  However, having converted the Boot code to a static library and linked it into the same application the Boot startup section .isr_vector is not detected and hence not located at the appropriate location defined by the Application linker script. Is there something I need to add, either to the Boot library or the Application so that the library section get located at the correct address?Other than making the Boot source code a library, rather than part of the Application nothing else has changed.

Hi,I am trying to understand Trustzone concepts by building my own project. I’m using STM32U5-EVK and I went through the example project(GTZC_MPCWM_IllegalAccess_TrustZone project)to understand the basics. However, in this project, I noticed that they have not enabled the SAU in .ioc file, but still the SAU_CTRL_ENABLE macro has been set to 1. Also, on debugging I saw that all the SAU regions are initialised as well. But when I leave the SAU disabled in .ioc, the SAU ENABLE bit is 0 and SAU regions are not initialised. Could someone please explain this? Or am I missing something? Is there any other place where we can configure SAU? @mƎALLEm @Tesla DeLorean

The STM32CubeIDE uses toolchains from https://developer.arm.com/tools-and-software/open-source-software/developer-tools/gnu-toolchain/gnu-rm/downloads and the version it uses is 7.I'd like to use some C++17 features which are not available with gcc7.How can I add a custom toolchain to the IDE? Is there an easy way? Is there a way to get updates or alternatives to achieve my goal?Regards,Marcel

Hi Gents,Something weird is going on my computer since a long while, but it gets very annoying as I work with more on this computer. If I open a .ioc file, or do anything in STM32CubeIDE that will bring up a non-eclypse dialog, the GUI misbehaves in a very weird way. Best example is if I go to Software Packs -> Select Components menu - it becames absolutely unusable, every time I open it up. I attached a file where you can see, how the window looks like after scrolling the list or open up a dropdown item. This happens, when e.g.Working with .ioc files, especially its dialogs, but sometimes in the pinout and clock configuration tabs tooSelect Components dialogThis doesn't happens when e.g.Opening project properties windowIn the Target SelectorNote, that eclypse dialogs, even if contain "ST elements" like drop-downs, text fields, etc, does not produce this error. If a dialog is fully ST based, this happens. Also, I tried the followings:Re-install STM32CubeIDE - no resolutionInstall an o

Hi all,I'm using application note AN4636 for LC sensor.I tested with the example source code, and they work well for one sensor. But when I use multiple sensors, I face an issue. If I use the same value for inductor and capacitor for each sensor, the oscillators between these sensors are affected, the amplitude decrease and the shape change.I can avoid this issue by adjusting the value of inductors to create difference oscillator frequencies, but I think it is not good solution to ensure the stable and consistency of product. Can anyone give me advice to solve this problem?I appreciate this help. Thanks!

Hi,I have designed a circuit with the LSM6SDOX.It is operating via the I2C BUS and the Gyroscope and Accelerometer are sending data. I have also managed to configure Single and Double Tap detection, however it is the tap detection where I have an issue. When I single tap, it works and triggers INT1 on the Microcontroller, when I double tap, it also works and triggers INT2, however the double tap also triggers the single tap at the same time. The registers are configured as follows in the function below. Please see a screen capture from my Oscilloscope attached. Yellow is the Single Tap, while Blue is the Double Tap. Hopefully it will be self explanatory. Can anyone point me in the right direction on how I stop INT1 from triggering when INT2 is detected? Thanks.  /*-----------------------------------------------------------------*/void configureRegisters() { // Set FUNC_CFG_ACCESS and PIN_CTRL registerswriteRegister(LSM6DSOX_ADDRESS, FUNC_CFG_ACCESS, B00000000);writeRegister(LSM6DS

Hi,I'm trying to send data from ADC to FMAC directly via DMA in circular mode. From the STM32G4 reference manual (dm00355726) page 402:"Peripheral-to-memory, memory-to-peripheral, memory-to-memory and peripheral-to-peripheral data transfers"But I can't find anything on STM32CubeG4 that configures that. Here's a screenshot: I've tried writing to FMAC write data register directly usingHAL_ADC_Start_DMA(&hadc1, &FMAC->WDATA, 1)But it doesn't work. What worked for me was setting the DMA circular mode for both ADC and FMAC, then syncronize it using DMAMUX requests. Although this eliminates the CPU in the process, it doesn't feel like a true peripheral-to-peripheral transaction. How can I make a DMA transfer content from one peripheral to another, directly?Kind regards,Helder

Hi. Updates:1) Cancelled our original order with DK due to the ECCN delays. Did receive a notice from the open ticket with ST support that the ECCN issue has been resolved with DK. Mouser did not have this delay so ordered the tool from their store.2) The STM32U5G9J-DK2 has arrived. Attempting to run anything on this target and facing the following error message log. I'm currently working on a project using the STM32L433 MCU with the SD peripheral. While trying to use the HAL driver with read and write operations the functions return an timeout. While tracing the command and data lines the command is sent but the FIFO is not emptied this leads to the timeout as the SD card isn't done writing. Also while only reading the data only the command is sent and no data is exchanged. In the initialization of the SD card data is exchanged so the functionality of the SD card is working. Also multiple cards are used to test and all have the same response as it doesn't send the data. In the screenshot is CMD24 sent and a response from the card with the status in transfer state and ready for data flag is 1. Card data as the CID and CSD are received properly. While using the debugger the SDMMC1.FIFO is written to and the address and offset correspond to the reference manual register address of the FIFO so writing to that address should write to the FIFO. Also in th

Hi!I'm having problem connecting the board to a Windows 10 PC. Connecting the board to the USB it works in standalone mode, but the USB driver (PowerShield Virtual ComPort in FS Mode) is not installed, so I can't use the board with the STM32CubeMonitor-Power. Windows Device Manages tells that device drivers have not been installed, and the associated COM port is obviously not existing. Is the X-NUCLEO-LPM01A not functioning properly or am I missing something?

Dear STMicroelectronics Support Team, I hope this message finds you well. I am interested in identifying a microcontroller that meets certain specifications for my project. I would appreciate your assistance in identifying the most suitable MCU. MCU Requirements: Low-pin package type: SO (Small Outline), SOIC (Small Outline Integrated Circuit), or TSSOP (Thin Shrink Small Outline Package). Should be I2C (Inter-Integrated Circuit) compatible. Must have a built-in Real-Time Clock (RTC) module. Should include a VBAT pin for battery backup. If you could provide information about any MCU that meets these requirements or suggest where I can find such information on your website, I would be very grateful. Thank you very much for your time and assistance. Sincerely,

Hey,I'm completely new to the topic of microcontrollers and currently trying to prepare for an internship (preparation and prior knowledge are not required, but I would still like to prepare myself). Since I already the chip (STM32L4A6) I'm going to work with, I bought a board (NUCLEO-L4A6ZG) with this chip. Despite finding a diverse set of resources and examples for other boards (I also checked the GitHub repos for examples, but the board wasn't available), but the only thing I could achieve was programming the LEDs and playing around with the buttons. The configuration of printf has so far been a complete failure (I tried using UART).I've tried using the datasheet and the user manual for help, but that hasn't really helped me so far as I felt completely overwhelmed and lost.I'm sorry if this is not the right place to ask for tips, resources and examples for this board and chip, to start with, but it would really help me. Thanks

I was going to turn on USB VCP support into my latest research project on a Nucleo-H563ZI, and noticed that the normal middleware for USB devices doesn't seem to be there. (I've been using F4s and F7s for years, wrote articles on how to get started using them and basically been an ST fanboy and STM32 proponent for a while).Anyway, unless I missed something, it looks like the USB middleware assumes ThreadX/Azure RTOS, as do the examples. Now I typically don't care for much that Microsoft puts their grubby mitts on, but if ThreadX is going to be the supported RTOS path for ST and Cube, so be it. I guess it's time to throw another RTOS into the pool. So far I've used uC/OS-II/III, RTEMS, and FreeRTOS, and have seen others pop up as the next-great-RTOS and fade away. So, is ST planning on continuing with FreeRTOS? Move to ThreadX? Follow Nordic in using Zephyr? Writing their own?It would be nice to know where you're heading because I do this sort of stuff for a living and have to support st
