I was just made aware of this video by "embed sys". It's a great example of the flow that we encourage using CubeMX to configure hardware and TouchGFX Designer to create the UI.
While we don't encourage interfacing with hardware directly from the view classes to keep them portable (simulator + target) this video is still a great example of how easy it can be to interface with your hardware.
The project does not configure the board to use the NOR flash on the 429-DISCO but simply uses a minimal configuration with no external dependencies other than the LED.
