Has no one used a timer to measure input signals?

Could it be that the timer misses a few ''counts'' after it is being reset in Slave Mode? (TIM1_SLAVEMODE_RESET)
That would explain why I always end up with frequency values that are too high (or periods that are too low for that matter)....
