Persistent "Error finishing flash operation" on STM32F407 Discovery & ST Website Download Failures

Hello ST Community,

I am facing a complete breakdown of my development environment with my STM32F407G-DISC1 board. I am dealing with three critical issues: a persistent debugging failure, the sudden disappearance of CubeMX from my PC, and an inability to download any installers from st.com to fix it.

Here is the detailed situation:

1. The Debugging/Flashing Issue I am powering the board via USB only and have been careful not to cause any power conflicts. However, I suddenly cannot flash or debug any code.

Error: "Error finishing flash operation" (using ST-LINK GDB Server).

* Behavior: The ST-Link is detected, but the write operation fails immediately.

* Steps Taken:

* I tried changing the Reset Behaviour to "Connect Under Reset".

* I tried holding the hardware Reset (Black) button manually while connecting.

* I updated the ST-Link Firmware on the board (Update was successful).

* I attempted a "Full Chip Erase" with STM32CubeProgrammer, but it also fails to communicate properly with the target.

2. The Disappearance of STM32CubeMX To make matters worse, my STM32CubeMX installation has mysteriously disappeared from my PC. The application is gone, and I can no longer open my .ioc files visually.

* I am currently forced to open the .ioc file as a text file and manually read the pinout configurations line-by-line.

* My development environment is effectively broken.

3. The Download & Reinstall Failure Because CubeMX vanished and my debugging tools were failing, I attempted to download the latest STM32CubeIDE and STM32CubeMX installers from st.com to perform a clean reinstall.

* Problem: The download starts but randomly fails with a network error before completion.

Verification: My internet is stable. I can download other non-development software from the ST website without issues. The failure is specific to the IDE/CubeMX installers.

Summary: I am stuck with a non-responsive F407 board, no visual configuration tool (CubeMX is gone), and no way to reinstall the software due to download errors.

Could this be a driver corruption on my PC affecting both the software and the ST-Link communication? Any advice on how to recover the chip or fix the download issue would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
