Hi,

Are there plans for a mixed-signal Cortex-M7?

Yes, the competitors have developed new, very powerful microcontrollers (e.g. Infineon's XMC7000), but ST is lagging behind. ST develops many microcontrollers for commercial electronics, but doesn't have any new designs for industrial electronics.

Hello AMend.7,

I am presently using the STM32G474 and generally very happy with it - with one exception: I could use considerably more processing power, especially DP-FPU.  The application is path planning and rajectory generation for precision servo motion control.  Currently, I have a huge amount of double-precision code that must be executed repeatedly at servo-update rate.  The software-based (softFP) does fairly well, but is limiting performance and feature enhancement.  Something like an STM32G7 or STM32G8 would be terrific (and compete well with TI DSP I'll bet).

Thank you for listening!

Regards,

Dave

Hi,

I am very excited about the announcement of the new STM32V8, 800MHz LQFP 100-pin, 3 mc_timers and 10 HRTIM. It could be an excellent option for motor control and power conversion.
