Utility for generating data for the SPI Flash
2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Hi,
I am new to using the Cortex parts and have just got an EVAL board. Is there a utility for generating the DFU file to program the memory image for the SPI Flash part on this eval board? I am going to use the compiler + JLINK to program the Cortex part itself. Regards Phil.2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Hi Phil,
Yes aboslutely you can and STMicro provides an utility called ''DFuSe'' like ''Using DFU'' :) You have just to install it and then go the help files, Here you go :http://www.st.com/stonline/products/support/micro/files/um0412.zip

Sounds like you're addressing the TFT (deluxe) Eval board. There is a detailed .pdf User Guide for this board in ''docs.'' which outlines many of the procedures.
Be certain to show ''all interested'' the working TFT ''before'' you start making mods. (the procedures may take more time/effort/focus than you expected...)2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. Yes I found this utility today at work, I did have problems installing it but I had to download another version of Installshield so that the program would install. What about a utility to generate the icons and manage the bitmap image to store in the SPI flash? I can use DFuSe to convert a hex file to dfu file. The source code for the Eval board just has the pointer addresses for the icons hardcoded to the locations in SPI flash. Regards Phil.2011-05-17 03:37 AM
Suspect that you will shortly want to place your ''own'' icons, images, bmps and eventually JPGs in this SPI memory. How will you know:
a) how much memory is free? b) what locations are available? If not part of the library - you will require an efficient means to format & store image data - and subsequently recover and display. I don't know if the mechanisms employed on your eval board are ''hidden'' from our use... [ This message was edited by: jj.sprague on 20-06-2008 16:47 ]
