STM32L051 replacement in LQFP32 with HSE support

Need advice selecting an STM32 device (package should be LQFP32).

Want to replace an STM32L051 (LQFP32). Want similar footprint. The replacement shall use less power or equal. Must have possibility to run on an external high speed oscillator (HSE). The STM32L051 could not do this.

"should" or "must" ?

Could you use a smaller package with more pins?

eg, UFQFPN48 is smaller than LQFP32, and does have the HSE pins.

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Ah yes - that one has the shared OSCx pins:

OK as long as @MSipo doesn't also want the LSE ...
