STM32 chips with native modbus support

Posted on December 30, 2016 at 22:20

Hello there,

Is there any list of STM32 devices with native ModBus support? I am trying to find a proper mcu and I have to open each datasheet by hand and ctrl+F for modbus. There has to be a better way. So far I have figured out that only the newer devices have it (ie. F0 and F7). I need something in between with modbus support.

I would appreciate all help.

This is interesting. I did not know one could choose ''Modbus communication'' in any MCU. Also your example is the first mcu that allowed that for me, other F0's didnt have this feature. I configured it manually using async uart. I have reproduced your problem on my CubeMX. Indeed only TX pin is being configured. Additionaly, one cannot configure this peripheral:

It is not absolute necessary to set the USART as it offers a menu of the

Cube. You can combine the modern functions as you need. For example You can

use IDLE detection of Modbus with automatic DE signal by full duplex mode.

With using 3 pins connection.

Yes everything works when one sets it manually. The mxcube generator just doesnt.

CubeMX is a good tool, but as it is not perfect, now. I think all ahead.
