ST-Link won't run stand-alone on Windows 7

I was interested in trying Espruino software on an STM32F4 and downloaded ST-Link.

Unfortunately, when I try to run STM32 ST-Link Utility.exe I get a dialog

''This application was unable to start correctly ()xc000007b). Click OK to close the application.''

Am I invoking it correctly? Or is there some sort of setup I need to do before starting up?

The IAR embedded workbench seems to have no problem dow loading to this board.

Hard to say, running fine here, stand-alone and with Keil. Mostly on Win7 64-bit machines running pro and ultimate.

Check you have current drivers/firmware/utilities.

Check you have appropriate 32/64-bit drivers.

Check that IAR isn't currently using/connected to the ST-LINK

Check you have administrative rights, no issues with USB attachment or Anti-Virus, or Daemon Tools.
