Hello,
I am planning to develop a 915 MHz LoRaWAN end node using the STM32WLE5C8U6. My goal is to send data from several sensors—such as GNSS, temperature, and accelerometer—directly to a gateway without employing an external MCU.
1- Could you please advise if the integrated MCU in the STM32WLE5C8U6 is sufficient for handling these tasks?
2- I intend to use a chip antenna (0915AT43A0026001E) and would like to know if it is feasible to achieve a 10 km range in a rural open area with this setup.
3- would you recommend a 4-layer or 6-layer PCB for this application?
Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Best regards,

Hello @jackob @and welcome to the ST Community.
1- Yes, you can use one of the STM32WLE MCUs for such a project but you need just to make sure you have enought peripherals and pins for all your sensors. On this, DS13105 should help you.
2- About this antenna, i didn’t tested personally but i can tel you that 10KM is possible with a good antenna. For that, you can ask a RF expert. Hi should be able to help you.
3- For the number of layers, it depends on lots of conditions. So, you may need to ask for some guidance from a HW expert. You can also have a look at this video that should help you with some design tips.
Best Regards.
