External oscillator use in STM32F103xxx

Can I use an external oscillator module to drive a clock directly into the 'oscillator in' pin?
ST documentation only shows crystal with load capacitors.

Yes, it's the way all the DISCO boards work, the 8MHz clock is feed out the MCO pin and into the OSC_IN of the Target STM32
