STM32F756BGT6: Embedded Bootloader

vgiampa

Dear Sir/Madam,

I have two question to better understand the Embedded bootloader of the STM32F7 Microcontroller and relevant configuration with respect to the Silicon Revision.

  1. Is it possible to perform an overwrite of the embedded bootloader programmed by ST Microelectronics during production in the system memory?
  2. If the Embedded Bootloader change version (i.e. from v9.0 to 9.1) the relevant silicon revision of the microcontroller shall be updated or not? Is it possible to know from the silicon revision of STM32 P/N which is the relevant embedded bootloader version?

I am looking forward to receive your feedback,

Best Regards

Valerio Giampà

Welcome, @vgiampa, to the community!

  1. no, the embedded bootloader is fixed and cannot be overwritten
  2. the embedded boot loader version can be obtained using the get command in case you need to know it

ST writes the System Loader firmware, it is not etched, and is independent of the chip revision/stepping.

Consider it as using OTP memory.
