CubeMX FileX Maximum SRAM Disk Size

Hello,

Why is there a limitation to the maximum Disk space in FileX?  256K is too small.  I would like to allocate 64Mbytes.

Hello @matt-crc

This is a hardware limitation. Please check the datasheet of your device.

Hi @Saket_Om

I did and the memory is available.  I highlighted the available memory on the datasheet

Hello @matt-crc

This is not an embedded SRAM. It concerns the FMC (Flexible external memory controller) peripheral which can control an external SRAM.

hi @Saket_Om

ok, but i find it very strange that FileX can be configured to use the FMC with the external Flash (Nor/Nand) without that limitation, but it can't use the very same FMC for a RAM disk...

Yes, doesn't make sense to me either, should be able to use the SDRAM, and however large that is, less the offset into it.

Perhaps SRAM DISK is too specific, and there should be an SDRAM-DISK, or a more generalized RAM-DISK

@STTwo-32 please flag this for consideration/review for parts supporting external memory and/or SDRAM enabled, and an "Address" field in the user interface.
