I have the STM32F401RE NUCLEO-64 Board and have gone over and over all the instructions but I must be missing something because my board doesn't seem to be read by my laptop. I have everything the way it says on the manual and elsewhere. I have the jumper JD1 off, The other 2 JD's are on and i don't get any reading on my laptop. It doesn't show up anywhere. Not on the ide or the mx programs. Nowhere. If anyone can please help and tell me what I'm doing wrong i really appreciate it. I am connected using a usb to micro i Believe it is or the micro b. Teh one red led stay on  the upper right one flashes red and the green led flashers and goes faster or slower depending on when i press the blue button. Thank u

Hi,

since it should work you could describe your problem a bit more precise (PC, operating system, maybe a clear picture of the setup).

Does your NUCLEO power up?

Did you try another USB cable? (Some cables only provide power without data...)

What exactly do you expect, and what do you actually see ?

Did you install the ST-Link USB drivers ?
Assuming you are talking about Windows, attach the board and check the USB devices in the device manager.
It will tell you if there is a problem.

Most Linux distros support it out of the box, and a lsusb should list it.

Hello @ManicHispanic

Make sure to install or update the ST-LINK driver and firmware. Check Device Manager for 'Unknown' devices and update their drivers.

Refer to the board's User manual to check the jumper settings.

When powered via USB, the green PWR LED (LD3) should be ON, and the COM LED (LD1) should blink. If these LEDs are not functioning as expected, check your USB cable and port. In this case, make sure to use good USB cable that supports data transfer - not just cable charging. Try different USB ports or another computer.

You can test with other board to see if you have the same issue.

Is it seen in Device Manager?

See: https://community.st.com/t5/stm32-mcus/how-to-solve-debugger-connection-issues/tac-p/698105/highlight/true#M956

If it's not even seen in Device Manager then, clearly, no application or software is going to be able to see it!

A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.
