Hello ;

We need to drive a sensored (HALL) BLDC motor ; we need to decide STSPIN32F0 series but we confused which one is the best choice for use ; we need speed control using the hall sensores .

Also when to use volt control mode and when current control mode , could you help please?

Thank you inadvanced

Hi @Hector_06 and @DArau.1,

I tried to summarize the main differences of these 3 part numbers in the below picture.

In your case the best choice depends on the feedback signals coming from Hall sensors. If you have digital signals all part numbers is suitable.

If you have analog signals the STSPIN32F0 integrates 3FG generation using internal op amps, comparators and Hall decoding logic circuitry (op amp2, 3, 4 and relative comparators) and a Hall-effect sensors feedback management with op amps and ADC. You can find ana applicatin example in the datasheet at page 35 (Figure 19).

Have you chosen the most suited option for you case @Hector_06?

We are in same confusion state, we are developing a sensored controller and cannot decide which one to choose.

Thank you for answer ; which one is suitable for FOC control ? or only STSPIN32F0 ?

Hi @Hector_06,

if you want perform FOC with analog Hall sensors feedback you can use only STSPIN32F0.

A suggested configuration:

  • Hall-effect sensors feedback management with op amps (op amp2, 3, 4) and ADCs (for example PA0, PA1, PA2).
  • Single shunt topology for current sensing using internal operation amplifier (op amp 1) and ADC (e.g. PA3).

In case of digital Hall sensors or sensorless you have more options:

  • STSPIN32F0 or F0A: FOC single or three shunt
  • STSPIN32F0B: FOC single shunt
