Hi,
I’m prototyping with the SPV1050 Eval board (the buck-boost) version and I’m facing the following issue:
I had to disable the MPPT since my power source is not a solar panel. It’s a generator (AC) being rectified into a DC voltage. But that’ll come later.
For now I’ve been testing with a DC Power Supply, where I set the input voltage, and I know that around 5.6VDC I have around 300mW of available power on the source, so that would be approximately around 53mA. However the most I can get in is around 200mA, an input current of around 35mA. That’s 18mA that I am unable to harvest from the source.
The power I get out is not too bad, I’m getting around 78-79% efficiency, and I’m charging a super capacitor up to 3.6V using the STORE pin. However I can’t figure out how to increase the input current.
Vin Range: 3 - 5.6V
Power In Range: 150mW - 320mW
How exactly is the input and output current limits set when MPPT is disabled?
