Dear all
We are exploring to replace our current valve driver package with some 75 pieces of the VNQ5160K-E but have have some questions around the snuffer circuite for high side drivers.
The VNQ5160K-E's will not operate in an automotive envionment so protection against reversed polarity is not an issue.
We switch on the inductive load for 1 millisecond, 300 times per second for many hours in a row.
According to the data sheet for VNQ5160K-E it sas on page 19, chapter 3.1.2 that for an inductive load a diod and a resistor should be connected in parallell.
However, from other sources, a single freewheel diod in a snuffer setup will dissapete the energy up to 5 times slower compared to a diod and a zener diode.
Can we skip the resistor and the diode (according to chapter 3.1.2) if we instead add a snuffer (diod + zener diode) circuite over each of the inductive loads?
If so, what should the zenerdiod be, 5 volt ?
Regards Stefan
