Control mechanism of VB_SW pin of L9396 component.

Hello,

The component in question is L9396. I have a question about the properties of the 'Protected battery switch' pin (VB_SW) of this component. In the datasheet for this pin, both 'The device provides a fully protected switched battery output VB_SW, always active when the device is not in stand-by mode and WD1 is correctly served.' it's called. Also 'The output can be disabled through SPI. Should the VB_SW diagnostics detect an over current condition, the output is turned off and the over current SPI fault is set. Once an overcurrent condition is detected, the output can only be re-enabled through SPI command, when the fault disappears, writing the bit PROTECTED BATTERY SWITCH COMMAND at 1 after the related OVER CURRENT flag is cleared on read.' it is mentioned. In addition, there are 'PROTECTED BATTERY SWITCH ENABLE' and 'PROTECTED BATTERY SWITCH COMMAND' configuration register bits related to this pin.

My question is, is this VB_SW pin a constantly active pin or is it a pin that can be ON/OFF with our SPI commands? If ON/OFF, what is the correct sequence?

Best regards
