Hello
Currently, all information on WBC86TX and WLC38RX has disappeared from the ST homepage.
Does this mean that the two chips are discontinued?
I would like to know whether they should not be applied to new designs,
and how long they are planned to be produced.

Perhaps some patent or functionality issue.
Apple for sure drives a lot of the market and requirements, and has a direct relationship with ST.
Given the relatively fractional business third-parties are bringing, it's not entirely surprising that support bandwidth is rather low.
Again, this can still be frustrating, like much of the wireless business space..

Hmm patents it could be, functionality issues, why not offer a revision? Do you really think Apple is requesting ST stop offering the chips to others? Seems a bit strange. I do agree about the fractional business part, but a lot of people don't need support, and I've never really seen a semiconductor firm do this mid-cycle.
I think a lot of us would like clarity on what's going on from someone at ST, because it's very strange to pull the product mid cycle, by puling all the documentation, software and kits without explanation, yet still supposedly offer them for sale.
* Are chips still available for purchase from ST and distributors for the foreseeable future with or without MOQ's?
* What are the minimum annual estimates to be able to purchase dev kits?
* Why is ST pulling their Qi Wireless products mid cycle?
