I have a Timekeeper M48T08-150PC1 and need to know the year of manufacture. The endcap use to tell date. Example encap date of W2512Z = 251st day of 2012=Sept 8 2012. Now I have some that show A0116A and W2981Y. Can someone translate the A and Y

Welcome, @WWood.1, to the community!

The date code is not where you think it is, but in the last of the 5 lines. It can be found there:

  • a three-letter internal code, e.g. MYS
  • a two-digit internal code
  • the date code in the form YWW, i.e. the last digit of the year and calendar week
  • a one-letter internal code

Unfortunately, it is not possible to identify directly from the component the decade in which it was manufactured, as the M48T08 has been around since 1999. A "1" could therefore stand for 2001, 2011 or 2021, for example. More precise information can only be found on the label of the packaging with which the part was delivered.

So what would Y stand for instead of A at the end?

You are referring to the vertical line of text on the right, but it is not relevant to you. The M48T08-150PC1 is a so-called CAPHAT® device and therefore does not have an exchangeable SNAPHAT®, which is why only the above-mentioned date code in the fifth line is important.

Thanks for the feedback. Someone at ST years ago had told me the letter at the end was a decade descriptor. Have you head of that? Was thinking maybe "A" was 2022? Really don't understand how hard it would be to just put a real date on these since they are printing code on there anyway.

1992 = X

2002 = Y

2012 = Z
