i want to have my CNC system moments feedback, which involves displacements of 0.01mm sensitivity

There are lots of sensors that can measure position with that level of resolution and accuracy. If you google position sensors for CNC machines you'll find a bunch. Also try googling linear position sensor, magnetic linear position sensor, LVDT or glass scale position sensor. Here's some examples: https://www.heidenhain.com/en_US/products/linear-encoders/

I don't think a sensor of this type whould work. Light is kind of fast. In units I deal with, it's 6.7 pico seconds per mm (round trip). To get that kind of resolution directly you would need a 300GHz scope and those are really expensive. To get sub mm, you would need one 10 times that fast.
To get that resolution in a sensor cheap enough for a CNC machine is out of the question.
Perhaps a very sensitive phisical swtich is the way go?
Good luck.

Yeah! I absolutely agree with you Mr John. it would be tough with the TOF sensing tech for this accuracy..
But my view is in with modules that are used in digital Vernier callipers that gives 0.01mm accuracy.. and that would perfectly fits my application.. looking for something kind of these or similar ones
Thank you.

I have one of those - and they are so cheap Harbor Freight gives them away as a 'free gift' if you buy something else.
But I don't know how they work.
But through the magic of Google, I got to:
And the guy describes how they work.
Now all you have to do is find someone woul can build it for you.
The really interesting thing is that it works sort of like Indirect ToF. He even labels the vernears "sin" and "cos" indicating that they are determining phase shift.
