VL53L5CX Gesture Recognition Implementation on STM32N657

Dear ST Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well.

I am currently working on a project where I aim to implement gesture recognition using the VL53L5CX sensor. However, I noticed in the official documentation that the supported cores for gesture recognition do not include the M55 (which is the core of my STM32N657 microcontroller).

Could you please advise if there are alternative methods to achieve gesture recognition with the VL53L5CX on this platform? For example:

  1. Are there any software libraries or algorithms compatible with the STM32N657 that I could utilize?

  2. Would it be possible to port the existing gesture recognition functionality to the M55 core?

  3. Are there other recommended approaches or workarounds to accomplish this?

I would greatly appreciate any guidance or resources you could provide to help me proceed with this implementation.

Thank you in advance for your time and support.

Best regards,
dw1

I contacted the group that needs to do this work.

(I don't work there anymore having retired, but I still have their email addresses. :)

The guy that can do this is on vacation for another week or so.

Please be patient if you can.

And if no one gets on this, try a different method. Go to ST.com, and pull down the 'Support and Community' but choose 'Support'. You can enter a ticket with this request.

The community page is monitored by engineers in their spare time, but tickets are reviewed by ST's marketing team. And as ST is really pushing the N6, the marketing team might increase the priority of your request.

I think you really have a good idea, and someone should get on it.

Hi John_Kvam,

Thank you for your helpful guidance and for reaching out to your former colleagues on my behalf—I really appreciate it. I’ll certainly wait a bit longer to see if they’re able to assist when the team member returns from vacation.

In the meantime, I’ll follow your suggestion and explore submitting a ticket via ST’s Support page. Your insight about ST’s focus on the N6 is encouraging, and I’ll highlight the potential value of this implementation in my request.

Thanks again for your support and for sharing your expertise—it’s greatly appreciated!

Best regards,
