We're currently evaluating a VL53L1X sensor underwater (in a sealed housing) , but beyond 2m IR light is absorbed too much. A ToF sensor based on 532nm would achieve better results. Which options exist other than 940nm?

Unfortuantely, not from ST.
And you are right about the 940nm light and water. One of the reasons we picked 940nm was there was less of at the surface of the earth. The water vapor in the upper atmosphere abosorbs 940nm light.
We have the VL6180 at 850nm, but it's specifically a short-distance sensor.
