A complex system that works is invariably found to have evolved from a simple system that worked.
A complex system designed from scratch never works and cannot be patched up to make it work.

Oh, it's worse than that!

As you can see, the colon and closing parenthesis are in the wrong order in the posted comment:

So I go to edit it, and put them in the correct order:

AndrewNeil_1-1745408645565.png

But when I post, they get transposed again:

AndrewNeil_2-1745408695020.png

So the forum has converted it to the text form of an emoticon, but then not rendered it as an emoji graphic!

Seems to work OK on an initial reply:

So just on editing a reply?

Hi @Andrew Neil ,

Thanks for reporting. I can confirm the behavior during the edit action on my side.

We have a bug registered when emoji interferes with text and code elements which is currently in the fix phase. We are expecting the fix to be done in a couple of weeks.

Once it's completed, we will see if this behavior is fixed too. Will keep you posted on the results.

Apologies for the insolvencies in the meantime.

BR,
Lina
