Posted on March 06, 2017 at 16:22I'm having a problem where I2C is hard crashing my STM32F446RET6 (programmed in EWARM with CubeMX as a starting point).  When I2C devices are enabled, at random amounts of time (couple hours to overnight), a .25 second 'heartbeat' indicator LED (in the main while loop) slows to ~1 second, and I2C communication on I2C1 & I2C2 stops.  Resetting from the NRST pin does nothing.  You have to physically remove power to get it to reset - it's as crashed as can be.  I am using STM32CubeF4, Version 1.14.0, and I'm experiencing the exact same thing as this post:https://community.st.com/thread/34172-i2c-bug-in-stm32cubef2-firmware-package-v140&sharpcomments That post has not been updated to say the problem was resolved.  I searched through my stm32f2xx_hal_i2c.c, and sure enough, the flawed code is present in mine too.  To fix it, that person reverted to STM32CubeF2 Version 1.3.0, but did not post what changes to the cod

Posted on March 04, 2017 at 10:53Hi,I am trying to understand the errata sheet for STM32L4x6xx series of MCU (DocID026121 Rev 4, December 2016).I2C peripheral limitations section lists one of the silicon bugs as2.6.3 Wrong data sampling when data set-up time (tSU;DAT) is smaller than one I2CCLK period. The I2C SDA line is not correctly sampled when tSU;DAT is smaller than one I2CCLK (I2C clock) period: the previous SDA value is sampled instead of the current one. This can result in a wrong slave address reception, a wrong received data byte, or a wrong received acknowledge bit. Here is the suggested workaround: Increase the I2CCLK frequency to get I2CCLK period smaller than the transmitter minimum data set-up time. Or, if it is possible, increase the transmitter minimum data set-up time. The I2C bus specification and user manual specify a minimum data set-up time (tSU;DAT) at: - 250 ns in Standard-mode - 100 ns in Fast-mode - 50 ns in Fast-mode PlusDid I get it right

Posted on March 01, 2017 at 15:17Hi,Does stm32f429zi support usb in hs mode? i found that PB 14 is required by USB-HS but on that pin red led is connected. Thanks for support.

Posted on March 02, 2017 at 16:52There don't seem to be any example projects or pin wizards for this board, although I can see it in some of the .c/.h files with the install. I have just updated SPC5-STUDIO so was expecting to see support. Are there pin wizards available for these devices?

Posted on February 28, 2017 at 15:47Hi, when I create a new project in SPC5 studio, its not showing me with the component initialization options. It does not present me with any options for choosing the microcontroller, configuring the clocks, etc. Please see the attached picture(SPC5)When I select the microcontroller using the pin map wizard, I am able to configure pins, but it does not seem to be generating any application code.  Please see the attached picture( SPC5_pinmap)Also, what is the latest released version of SPC5 studio? I have seen post here mentioning the version 5.2.3 being available. My application is still on version 5.0. Its showing 'no updates found in the available software sites' when checking for updates.#spc5-studio

Posted on February 28, 2017 at 16:56Hi, I'm setting up SPI comms with a slave device. (ADXL350 accelerometer) This is on an STM32F767ZIT6. I should point out I put this on a nucleo -'F746 board but it's all working fine so far at 200MHz with other peripherals presenting no problem.I've selected 8 bit data size, but am seeing 16 clocks on a scope. I use a read function to read address 0x00, the device's ''who_am_I'' register, and get 0xE5 back. In theory this is ok.However, I see the image here:Yellow = MOSICyan = MISORed = CLKGreen = _CSThe accelerometer is replying <0xE5> 3 times (trace 2 in cyan) because of this 16bit data size. If I set it to 4bit data size, I get 8 data clocks. But then I get a nybble in the low byte and a nybble in the high byte.https://community.st.com/0D50X00009XkeupSABhttp://www.st.com/content/ccc/resource/technical/document/technical_note/58/17/ad/50/fa/c9/48/07/DM00054618.pdf/files/DM00054618.pdf/jcr:content/translations/en.DM00054618.pdf. I use m

Posted on March 01, 2017 at 17:07Hi I have a custom bootloader that I flash to the first sector (0x8000000)  and when it receives a new program it loads it to 0x8003000. I can jumps to the user application, however  when It from user application jumps to the bootloader it seems to have problems because i can't display the menu in hyper terminal (send data via USART),but i can blink a led .Do you have any idea ?Thank you in advance !Turvey.Clive.002#custom-bootloader #stm32f1

Posted on December 05, 2016 at 21:23I use CubeMX on maxOS to generate projects for SW4STM32 then run a https://github.com/baoshi/CubeMX2Makefile to generate a Makefile for the gnu gcc toolchain. This worked fine on MX 4.16 and 4.17 but it broke today when I installed to 4.18. I tracked it down to four missing " entities in .cprofile where it defines the C preprocessor values. The incorrect line generated by MX is:<option id='gnu.c.compiler.option.preprocessor.def.symbols.1056679357' name='Defined symbols (-D)' superClass='gnu.c.compiler.option.preprocessor.def.symbols' useByScannerDiscovery='false' valueType='definedSymbols'><listOptionValue builtIn='false' value='__weak=__attribute__((weak))' /><listOptionValue builtIn='false' value='__packed=__attribute__((__packed__))' /><listOptionValue builtIn='false' value='USE_HAL_DRIVER' /><listOptionValue builtIn='false' value='STM32F446xx' /></option>But it should be:<option

Posted on March 01, 2017 at 16:29I'm working with STM32L475 and I'm using LPTIM to create a PWM signal. LSE clock is used (because I will use Stop mode), and period is set to 31 in ordet to generate 1kHz signal. PWM is working fine and dutycycle is modified according to the pulse value I set to the 'HAL_LPTIM_PWM_Start' function. Nevertheless, when I try to set PWM signal to 100% or 0%, the output signal looks similar to the one I have when dutycycle is set to 99% or 1%. Do you know why I get such behaviour?#lptim #stm32l4 #pwm

So in the end from any 2k flash page only the upper halfis written, The lower half contains FFFFFF....#define USBD_DFU_XFER_SIZE 2048makes the thing work for me.Dieter

Posted on February 14, 2017 at 21:39I've read through AN4767, AN4808 and several others. I think I understand how nBFB2 can cause BANK 2 to be addressed as 0x0800000 & BANK1 aliases to 0x0804000 (L152 has 512K, so 2x256k banks). First a great shout-out to Turvey.Clive.002 http://userbadge, who makes the forum worth searching & asking at :-]. Hope you get a pay raise this year & every year!My remaining questions:1) Does this swap also affect EEPROM? AN4808 (& others) say code running in BANK1 should use EEPROM BANK2, and vis-vera since the banks share HW controllers & this allows code to run/read while writing EEPROM. So are the EEPROM banks swapped as well, or should the 'aliased' image at 0x08000000 always use EEPROM BANK2 as-if code was BANK1?2) The 'Ping-Pong' effect - someone else asked this, but wasn't directly answered.2a) I understand if I start running my FWv1 in HW-BANK1 & HW-BANK2 empty (BFB2 can be anything). So field upgrade to FWv2 means I copy to

Posted on February 28, 2017 at 10:48hello AllI have question about internal trigger connection.I use stm32f405 and accordingly document RM0090 (reference manual) table 100 page 660 the TIM12 can be slave of the TIM14.But TIM14 does not have TIM_CR2 register which contains MMS(Master Mode Selection) bits to select the the source of synchronization (Update or other). So how to join two timers TIM14 and TIM12 as master slave coupleThanks .

Posted on February 27, 2017 at 23:45I want to flash a load on the STM32F0CB using the STM Flash Loader demo. My configuration is: 57600, Data Bits:8, Parity: Even, Echo: Disabled, Timeout: 10.I also tried with parities Odd and None. After resetting the MCU, I get the error: 'Cannot get available commands, Please, Try to change Echo selection, Reset your device then try again...'. I changed the Echo selection mode with the same bad result. So I tested with serial tool. First of all, the only baud rates which gave a valid reply (ACK: 0x79, NACK: 0x1F)  were 56000 and 57600. So I sent the 'login' command 0x7F and got the expected 0x79 reply (ACK). Good! The MCU is in the booloader! Then I sent a Get command (0x00 0xFF) and didn't get any reply. I sent the same command again and I got a NACK (0x1F) reply. These are the two only cases I can get alternatively. If a enter 0x7F, I get the same behaviour, the same two cases so it means the MCU di

Posted on February 18, 2017 at 00:48Hi,My BlueNRG-MS, running 7.2c, acts both as a central and a peripheral (mode 4). How should I select the advertizing min and max intervals for the peripheral as well as the connection min and max intervals for the central? There seem to be a relationship between them, but I'm not sure I understand it.I'm trying to get the minimal connection interval for the central role, while ensuring proper connectivity for the peripheral.LE_Scan_Interval and LE_Scan_Window seems also to come into play...Right now, I'm testing different values through trial and error, but if there is a mathematical relationship between those, I'd like to know it.Thanks!#bluenrg-ms

Posted on January 21, 2017 at 13:33Hey guys,I created 2 sets of projects with CubeMX for my STM32F429I-Disc 1 board.I project is a Device HID project, the other one is a Device Custom HID project. The Device HID projects works fine, the Custom HID project compiles correctly but will not flash onto my MCU.I'm aware that for the custom HID USB routine to actually work, i'll have to adjust the USB descriptors. I have not done this yet! However this problem looks like more severe problem to me. Is there something wrong with the cube MX code generation? The log of the failed Custom HID looks like thisOpen On-Chip Debugger 0.10.0-dev-00267-g884c33c (2016-03-16-12:22)Licensed under GNU GPL v2For bug reports, read    https://community.st.com/external-link.jspa?url=http%3A%2F%2Fopenocd.org%2Fdoc%2Fdoxygen%2Fbugs.htmlInfo : auto-selecting first available session transport 'hla_swd'. Posted on February 24, 2017 at 06:55 Hi, I recently brought up the I2C using the STM32CubeMx(4.0) and STM32CUBE_FW_L4_v1.6.0 and I was attempting to write to a slave device with an address of 0x2A. I noticed that my slave device was NACK-ing back. Upon further inspection, it looks as if the address is shifted to the right by 1-bit, resulting in an address of 0x15 when transmitted on the line. To test this theory out, I purposefully used an address that is shifted 1-bit to the left: 0x Doing so registered an address of 0x2A on the physical bus which then I was able to hit the register with some data. I couldn't find any literature that required me to shift my I2C address left by 1-bit to have it address correctly. Has anyone else run into this issue? My solution is a work around but I would like to understand the root cause of this issue; whether I introduced it or possibly an inherent issue with the HAL drivers? Thanks!! Slave Address: //#define I2C_ADDRESS0x2A #defi

Posted on February 25, 2017 at 04:22Hi,I'm using a STM32F303 (landing page: http://www.st.com/en/microcontrollers/stm32f303k8.html) for one of my project. I have PA0 configured as a GPIO output with push pull used to turn ON/OFF a BJT. I also have PA3 configured to use the ADC1 channel 4 module. When I set PA0 high, the ADC readings increase by about 1.8V. When it is low, the readings are correct. Why does this happen? Externally, these two pins aren't connected directly to each other.
