I am studying the architecture of the STM32H7 family, and according to the AN there are various types of memory, DRAM, SDRAM, NOR/PSRAM, NAND in addition to the swap between SDRAM and NOR/PSRAM.What is the reason for such diversity and what benefits does this bring to the developer and the system?

Hello, community! I recently purchased the SensorTile Box Pro to conduct various educational experiments. It connects via Bluetooth to my phone, but when I try to connect it to my laptop using the MEMS STUDIO application, it does not work via either USB or Bluetooth. I receive a red error message stating that the board is not identified. I have tried on three different PCs, both on Windows 10 and Windows 11, but it still does not work. All the necessary drivers have been installed, and I have no explanation for why it is not being recognized. I should mention that my laptop is running Windows 10. Can you help me?

Hi,I am trying to initialize and use the internal CRC peripheral in the STM32F412 MCU. My application is based on Zephyr RTOS, using the STM32 HAL.My application defines the CONFIG_USE_STM32_HAL_CRC, so the stm32f4xx_hal_crc.c is included in the build. The application builds and links just fine, and I can call the HAL_CRC_Init, HAL_CRC_GetState and HAL_CRC_Calculate without any problems.Only problem is the calculation is 0 for my 4 test bytes (0x01, 0x02, 0x03, 0x04). Debugging through the code, it does set the "hcrc->Instance->DR" in stm32f4xx_hal_crc.cAre there any additional settings I need to include? Maybe clock configurations?

I am trying to identify an ST IC with marking MZ938.  It is an 8-SOIC and it is used in a circuit which helps maintain charge on a 24V battery and is fed by a boost switching circuit.  It also has 0621 marked on it.  I assume that's the date code.

Hi everyone,I'm currently working with NanoEdgeAI Studio and I'm trying to analyze a signal from mutliple CSV files with each containing more than 450,000 rows of data. However, when I try to compute the FFT, the software displays the following message:"Signal has not enough values per axis to compute FFT."This confuses me because 450k+ values should definitely be enough for an FFT computation?Right now, my CSV contains only a single column with the signal values (no timestamps, no headers, just raw values). Here's what I'm wondering:Does NanoEdgeAI Studio require a timestamp column or a specific format for the signal to be considered valid for FFT?Are there any hidden minimum data requirements per axis, or is it related to how the file is structured?Could the issue be that the tool expects multiple channels or axis-labeled data (like X, Y, Z) instead of just a single stream?Any help or tips would be appreciated — I just want to get the FFT visualization working. Thanks in advance!&nbsp

Hello,I have the TI ADS8350 and want to read both channels in parallel. They support SPI, but I can not figure out how to setup the dual SPI for this. Another way would be to use DMA, could someone point me in the right direction. I am using SMT32F412.Thanks.

Hey everyone, I’m working on a low-power motion tracking project using an LSM6DSL IMU to capture 3D acceleration and gyroscope data. This sensor is interesting because it has an "Always-On" mode, which is supposed to keep motion detection running with minimal power consumption. I came across this article: LSM6DSL iNEMO Inertial Module – Always-On 3D Accelerometer and 3D Gyroscope, which explains the features and power management modes, but I still have some questions: What’s the most efficient way to configure the power modes to maximize battery life while maintaining good motion tracking performance? Has anyone used the embedded finite state machine (FSM) or machine learning core (MLC) in this IMU to reduce processing overhead on the MCU? Any real-world tips for reducing noise and drift when using this sensor in a wearable or mobile setup? Looking forward to insights from anyone who has worked with LSM6DSL or similar IMUs!

I'm trying to debug my UART debug code. I suspect that I have calculated the Baud rate incorrectly.I run the code in debug & I'm trying to view the value in `what_baud` but the debugger isn't having it, see below. How do I do this correctly?

Hello,I am trying to connect an ILI9325C display to an STM32F401RET6 microcontroller Yes this is related to my previous post. After writing the code correctly and connecting the display, it doesn't respond and only has the backlight on (from the power supply). I think my code is correct I compare it to the documentation of my display. I have a BLE device that uses BLE security mode 1, BLE security level 3 authenticated pairing.  It works with iOS, Windows, and MacOS.   It has an unencrypted characteristic for the initial connection and an encrypted characteristic for use after pairing.  I have an STM32WB55 BLE client that can connect to the unencrypted characteristic, complete the pairing process, and then switch to the encrypted characteristic for normal communication.  However, when I disconnect and then connect back in to the server, the STM32WB55 can talk on the unencrypted characteristic, but attempts to transmit to the server on the the encrypted characteristic fail (error code 0x91).  Both devices report bonding information that correspond to each other properly.  Is there some BLE stack call needed when connected to a bonded server that I am not finding in the documentation?   The connect/pairing/switch-to-encrypted-characteristic process works repeatably.&nb

I'm trying to build a simple project following the MOOC tutorial video for the STM32 HAL's SPI DMA (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9GCTLd6-AM&list=PLnMKNibPkDnGtuIl5v0CvC81Am7SKpj02&index=52&pp=iAQB0gcJCTgDd0p55Nqk).I can build the prior SPI projects from the earlier tutorials without a problem, but when I try to build this DMA version, I get the following error.arm-none-eabi-gcc -o "SPI3.elf" @"objects.list"   -mcpu=cortex-m4 -T"C:\Users\ethos\STM32CubeIDE\workspace_1.18.0\SPI3\STM32F401RETX_FLASH.ld" --specs=nosys.specs -Wl,-Map="SPI3.map" -Wl,--gc-sections -static --specs=nano.specs -mfpu=fpv4-sp-d16 -mfloat-abi=hard -mthumb -Wl,--start-group -lc -lm -Wl,--end-grouparm-none-eabi-gcc: fatal error: '-fuse-linker-plugin', but liblto_plugin.dll not foundcompilation terminated.make: *** [makefile:64: SPI3.elf] Error 1"make -j8 all" terminated with exit code 2. Having just opened a STM32 Cube IDE project from 2024 (which did build and run last year) now when I build and try and debug I get this error messageFile segment @0x08000000 is not 255-bytes aligned. It will be aligned to @0x07FFFFF8 So, using my original CubeMX .ioc file I have created a new "hello world" project in Cube IDE.This builds fine, but again when I try and debug I get the same error messageFile segment @0x08000000 is not 255-bytes aligned. It will be aligned to @0x07FFFFF8So this suggests its a IDE/Tool problem. The linker file is "as created", its not been altered in any way. I'm using "latest" versions of IDE and MXSTM32CubeIDE, Version: 1.17.0, Build: 23558_20241125_2245 (UTC)STM32CubeMX, Version: 6.13.0-RC5, Build: 20241122-0809 (UTC)My STLINK-V3SET has been updated with latest firmware. The target device is a STM32H730 on a custom board. Any help or advice would be appreciated.Thank you. Console snippet..Opening and parsing fi

Question moved from this post. no shame I don't have another card I found in the example stm32h747i-disco_demo\STM32H747I-DISCO_demo\EmbeddedWizard a dashboard, can I integrate this dashboard into my project, is it possible, tell me how?

On page 1017, Section 31.3 in Package data register of the STM32C0 reference manual (Revision 5), looking at the PKG[3:0] bitfield, when the condition is STM32C071xx, there seems to be two parameters with the same value? Was the value 0b1100 intended over 0b1000? (Since both "UFQFPN32_N / LQFP32_N" and "LQFP64_N" are 0b1000). See below for the referenced page.

Hi guysI can't find threadx support for F4, F7 and H7, it's only available for C0 series. According to this post, and my google. It should support most stm32 MCUs. What can I do to enable threadx support for these MCUs?

I am using an STM32 Nucleo-64 F401RE6 and need to interface with a sensor that has a single physical USB port but appears as two Virtual COM ports on a PC. I have configured the Nucleo board in USB_OTG Host Only mode and successfully enumerated the device. However, the connection is established with only one of the COM ports. How can I access data from both Virtual COM ports using USB Host mode on the Nucleo board?

Moved from STM8 forum. Hello ST Community, I am experiencing an issue with BLE OTA functionality on my STM32WB-based custom board. I have ported the OTA functionality from the official NUCLEO BLE OTA example project to my custom service and characteristic, and it has been working fine with the ST BLE Toolbox Android app v1.4.2. However, after updating the app to v1.4.3 (March 2025), the OTA process consistently fails. No changes were made to the firmware between tests. If I downgrade the app back to v1.4.2, OTA works reliably again. Additionally, I noticed that STM32CubeMX was recently updated to v6.14.0, whereas my firmware was originally developed using CubeMX v6.11.0. I'm trying to determine whether the problem lies in the new app version, CubeMX updates, or a combination of both. Questions: Are there any breaking changes or modifications in OTA behavior with ST BLE Toolbox v1.4.3? Has the OTA protocol or image transfer mechanism changed (e.g., chunk size, MTU, characteristic b

hii every one  i have a question about setting up the ip of the STM32 MCU remotely  when we want to do client server in udp or tcp on stm32 controller , we are used to set the ip address manually in the ioc file in general settings in the lwip section in the middleware tab . and i was wondering if there is a way to set up any default ip of mine , and is there a way to change this ip remotly after i am connected to the stm32 . my goal is to design an application that can give me the ability to access and change the ip and mask and gateway of my stm32 controller , i be very thankful for help and to know if there is a method to do that

When I first glanced through the STM32G474 datasheet, I saw VREF+ and VREF- on pins 43 and 44 on the LQFP128 package. "Cool", I thought, although I had no significant need for an actual VREF- pin. However, when I was making a schematics symbol, I noticed that the two pins are in fact VREF+ and VREF+. Apparently, the exact same thing on two pins next to each other.Does anyone know why this is? It makes perfect sense to have multiple pins for supply voltage and ground. But for a reference voltage? I have found no explanation in the datasheet or the reference manual. This question was asked in another thread in December, but no answer was provided. Dear ST community,I am developing a PCB design for wireless communication utilizing STM32WLE5CCU6. I have a very basic grasp of RF knowledge, impedance matching for example. I read thoroughly the documents: AN5457 and AN5407 of designing RF layout. I also took a glance on the Nucleo PCB design files. I noticed some discrepancies and I would like to ask you for your insight.1. In document AN5407 section 9 Table 5 there is example of recommended discontinuity management. It is designed for RF trace width matching the width of SMD components. I checked the STM32WL Nucleo design and noticed that for RFO_LP and RFO_HP signals the traces are quite thick between the matching components. I extracted the trace design properties (width, height, gap, Er) and put them into Saturn PCB calculator. The Zo impedance doesnt match 50 Ohms as shown below:The Nucleo layout doesn't follow the design rules, as you can see on picture below (I marked a concerning layout with a green rectangle):The "NETC15_1"

Hi,I'm relatively new with ST microcontrollers and I'm struggling a bit to find an answer to a question I have.I have some code that reads data from an external source. I need to read some data on startup, as it dictates the some stages of the boot process. The code that parses that received data also sends notifications over BLE later in the program execution. My problem is that the first calls to my parser triggers some notifications before the BLE interface is properly initialise and the micro hard-faults.I can't bring the call to `app_BLE_init()` any earlier than it is. I was wondering if there's a function in the API to check the status of the BLE stack, and avoid acting on the BLE link before it has been properly initialised. I tried with a dirty boolean flag, but I'm sure there must be a better way, right?
