Posted on September 05, 2017 at 15:17Hello,I am working with stm32f4 discovery and linux systems. We have a larger number of discovery boards that are interfaced via USB, and want to be able to connect to each one uniquely. I normally do that by using the attribute 'serial' that USB can give me, and I use the number in an udev-rule to get a unique devicename in /dev. An example of such a rule is:SUBSYSTEM=='tty', ATTRS{idVendor}=='0483', ATTRS{idProduct}=='5740', ATTRS{serial}=='00000000001A', SYMLINK+='VHP100'The problem is that this serial number is NOT fixed. It sometimes changes after a reboot.  I have never seen this with other devices. The question is, how can I fix/set this number? A cannot find anything in the CubeMX stuff about this.UPDATE: The fact that the number changes suggests that it resides in software. Does anyone know where the value is set? Thanks in advance,      Sietse#stm32f4-usb-virtual-com-port-serial-attribute

Posted on September 18, 2017 at 09:27On the  different STM32F4 Discovery boards with STM32F407 that we have here the serial number of the USB Virtual Port connection, as reported on the PC, is always 00000000001A.Is this as it should be? Also, strange low number. We also have another stm32f4 system with does have a 'real' serial number. The actual question is how can I distinguish between usb connections when more systems are connected.I need this to create a unique device name. This is in Linux, and udev rules are used to do this.Normally I use the serial number for this, but what can I do now?  Thanks in advance,       Sietse#stm32f4-usb-serial-number-virtual-com-port

Posted on September 11, 2017 at 21:16 Hi there, I am using STM32CubeMX to develop a USB HID touchscreen with the STM32F103C8T6 MCU. In the HID descriptor, I must report the following feature to support multi-touch: 0x85, REPORTID_MAX_COUNT, // REPORT_ID (Feature) 0x09, 0x05, // USAGE(Contact Count Maximum) 0x95, 0x01, // REPORT_COUNT (1) 0x25, 0x02, // LOGICAL_MAXIMUM (2) 0xb1, 0x02, // FEATURE (Data,Var,Abs) Which function should I use to do a USB control request as feature request? #stm32-hid-usb #usb-hid-getfeature-setfeature #stm32f103c8t6 #usb-hid #stm32cubemx(hal)

Posted on September 09, 2017 at 20:40Hello.Based on the HAL example >Applications>Display>LCD_PicturesFromSDCard I convertedthis into a CubeMX (V1.7.0) project, which works fine. Adding FreeRTOS works as well. But if I add LwIP (just adding) sometimes the image is not shown properly.Parts of the image is corrupted on the screen.Regardless if DHCP/static and memory settings for LwIP and FreeRTOS.It does occur i.e. after every 6-20th image loading. There is no rule. Why is it a problem to use LwIP in this case?Thank you for every hint.

Posted on September 16, 2017 at 02:34I need a timer that is accurate to 1us for a project I am working on. I bought some stm32f051 discovery boards to get going. I noticed all the timers seemed to be slow by about 0.75% (I checked them with a scope). That means I lose 7.5ms every second, which is huge for a real-time system. I tried to set-up a 1ms systick, and that is slow also.I got the systick timer example working from the STM32F0-Discovery peripheral examples and changed the main loop as follows:while (1)  {    /* Toggle LED4 */    STM_EVAL_LEDToggle(LED4);    /* Insert 50 ms delay */    Delay(500);    /* Toggle LED3 */    //STM_EVAL_LEDToggle(LED3);    /* Insert 100 ms delay */    //Delay(500);  }The LED is blinking slow by the same amount, so I don't think it's my firmware.I thought something might be wrong with my board, so I tried the same project

Posted on September 17, 2017 at 10:28Hi,I'm trying to implement some audio processing functions for my mp3 player project based on processing libraries provided by ST, but I have some problems getting that to work. The UM1798 Audio engine post-processing on STM32F4xxGraphical Equalizer libraryhas mentioned something about an example application that comes with the STM32 audio framework. I was wondering where I can get that application so I can see how the processing was done and apply that to my project. Thanks#audio #stm32f4 #greq-library #stm32-audio-framework

Posted on September 13, 2017 at 01:41Our application will have two st95hf devices connected by external microcontrollers through SPI. I just need to be able to transfer data from one st95hf to another. I don't need two way communication, just one direction. I don't need any complicated features like anti-collision or anything. Is there a simple example showing how I can achieve simple data transfers between two st95hf devices? Thanks.

Posted on January 09, 2017 at 15:00I have a custom board I have designed and want to develop on, and want to use the my 'stm32f0-discovery' board to program this custom board.using the SWD pins on CN4 of my stm32f0-discovery board, i can use 'STM32 Link Utility' to flash this custom board i am working on. All seems well. its just its not convenient having to use 'STM32 Link Utility' every time i want to flash the board when developing. how do i setup Keil uVision so that i can flash/debug using this setup?many thanks

Posted on September 16, 2017 at 18:18Sorry for my poor English. What is the maximum output current value of PWM using TIM? Where can I find it in the data sheet? I am using STM32F334. I am investigating whether the MOSFET can be directly driven by the PWM from the microcomputer without the gate driver. On page 78/121 of the data sheet of STM32F334x4 STM32F334x6 STM32F334x8, the following description was givenIs IIO=8mA, 20mA the PWM maximum output current value? Which is 8 mA or 20 mA?Best Regards,Ken Inoue

Posted on September 16, 2017 at 15:52How does ST-link V2 affect current measurements of an MCU?It seems that while connected, it draws quite a lot of current - compared to a low power device. And how about if the ST-link is disconnected (the USB-cable) from the PC while still connected to the board? It looks like it still draws current + keeps the core from running.#st-link

Posted on January 27, 2017 at 10:05 Dear STM32 Cube MX developers! Posted on August 31, 2017 at 17:05I need to store approximately 128 bytes of 'factory default' configuration data in FLASH when the program is initially loaded into my STM32F7xx custom board during production. Then, when the program boots, I need to load this data into ram-based variables for manipulation during program execution. At any time during program execution the values of these variables can be changed by the program. If/when they are changed, I would like to update their stored values in FLASH.I have implemented this previously in a TI processor by defining a special section of FLASH memory for this purpose. The TI processor permitted erase/write of small segments (128 bytes). But apparently the STM32F7xx minimum erase size is a segment. The smallest segment in an STM32F7xx is 32KB, which is much larger than my config data. And the smaller segments are located in low memory where the linker normally loads the beginning of the program data. So it seems like I need to store my

Posted on September 13, 2017 at 16:58Hello,I am preparing a project to test some USART and timers using a STM32F769 and a Discovery board.I configured the Project to work with the STM32CubeF7 using the HAL modules (I didn't use the STM32CubeMX to generate the project, I selected the files manually inside the Keil options).I also added the 'stm32f7xx_hal_conf.h' and uncommented the required lines of code to include all he .h files. Also included the USE_HAL_DRIVER in the project configuration to use the 'hal_conf.h' file. But I am experimenting some issues inside the 'smt32f7xx_hal_gpio.h' and the definitions of the int variables ar marked as unknown type (uitn32_t, uint_8, etc) so some of the structures inside the file are also marked as 'undefined' (GPIO_InitTypeDef) and also a few functions inside the module are marked as 'undefined'.I tried to fix it adding some includes inside my code but I couln't so I am sutcked now.Anyone can help with this? Thanks in advanced,Omar#stm32cube #keil

Posted on August 27, 2017 at 08:52I've got an application where pulses arrive every 28 usec or so--I'd like to use the stm32f4 timers to detect when at least 4 pulses are missing.   It's easy enough to do in discrete logic, but I'd like to avoid that. The problem would seem to be very simple--just reset a counter with each incoming pulse; if the counter manages to count up to a threshold, fire off an interrupt.   But even with a bottle of aspirin, I can't seem to wrap my head around how this might be done using the timers in the STM32F407.Does anyone have any ideas?

Posted on September 10, 2014 at 13:02Hi,I have designed a CR95HF based Board. The circuit diagram is exactly as per the 0018253A PLUG-CR95HF-B.pdf found on the ST Website. I have tried to match the PCB layout of my board to this board as far as possible. I have selected the communication interface to be UART. Initially, I want to communicate to the CR95HF using a terminal s/w (Docklight) running on PC using a USB to UART Converter. I have set the parameters to 57600-N-8-1 and No Flow Control. I want to use ISO/IEC 14443 Type A as communication protocol and the NFC Tag I am using is of NFC Forum Tag Type 1 (Topaz). When I send command 0x0100 (IDN) to the CR95HF, I get 0x000F4E4643204653324A415354320075D2 in response. When I send 0x55, I get 0x55 in response. When I send protocol select command 0x02020200 or 0x020402000300, I get a response of 0x0000. But when I send any command after this command like 0x09043A005804 or 0x0904680101D1 or 0x04022607 (given on the page no. 52/53 of CR95HF

Posted on September 14, 2017 at 11:35Hello,I try to use Usart Tx with DMA on a STM32L052K6, in order to send a string without needing to send each character independently. I don't use ISR. The Usart TX works well without DMA using HAL functions. The problem : when I call my function UsartTxData, there is only 2 bytes that are transferred, whereas my string is 13 characters. I've checked with debugger that CNDTR is correctly loaded to the value 13. As soon as TCIF = 1, there is only 2 bytes transferred instead of 13, I've check Tx signal with oscilloscope.I can not find out the problem, can you please help me ?Thanks !ThomasMain  : char msg[20] = 'page keybd   ';#define BUFFER_SIZE        50char TxBuffer[BUFFER_SIZE];while(1){    UsartTxData(msg);    for(i=0;i<1000000;i++) RestartWdt();  // Delay}void UsartInit(void){    GPIO_InitTypeDef GPIO_InitStruct;    // Peripheral

Posted on September 13, 2017 at 15:31Hi Community,i have a question regarding to the nested interrupt function of the F105. My Situation: I have 3 Interrupts with different prioritiesCAN bus rx has the lowest priority (highest number) and i want to parse the rx message directly in the CAN callback (so this could take a little bit of time)So, what happens if the CAN bus callback is stopped because a interrupt with a higher priority is active and while this a new message arrives via the CAN Hardware ?Is the controller clever enough that, when the controller jumps back into the CAN callback (number 1) it works with the first can message ?And then a CAN callback (number 2) is called and the second message is on the gun ?Or is this a bad situation ? Would be great if one of the interrupt specialist could give a hint about this situation...Thanks in advance,Mathias

Posted on September 13, 2017 at 11:17I'm working on a board that is close to the 429 Discovery board, using:- STM32F429 micro- LTDC connection to a custom 3 inch LCD using ili9327 controller, connected via display pixel interface- IS42SI6400J SDRAM used as frame buffer- STemWin library using linear display driverI'm getting some pixel noise on the right side of vertical edges, uniformly across the screen, that is colour dependent.Red and Blue are OK. Green is bad. Shades of white/grey are also bad. Here's a video of it: https://youtu.be/lFuAuqYay6E We've tried 2 different displays and 2 different board layouts. Last layout is a 4 layer board with careful attention to track lengths and routing, as per the ST guidelines. In all cases the same symptoms are present.I've also tried a variety of settings for front/back porch etc, but nothing helps.Does anyone have any suggestions that might help to solve this? Thanks.#lcd #ltdc

Posted on September 13, 2017 at 22:08I've got a STM32L476 with a SPI port configured as a master, talking to a single slave device. The slave device needs to communicate in 32-bit frames, with the chip select held low for the entire frame. Is there a way to do this with NSS hardware control? From what I've seen, the largest frame size I can set is 16 bits (using the DS bits in SPIx_CR2) and the NSS line toggles in between each frame.I know I can configure the NSS pin as a GPIO and control it in software, and that works fine, but it would be nice if the hardware could take care of it.For what it's worth, I'm using HAL drivers with STM32Cube_FW_L4_V1.8.1.Thanks.

Posted on September 11, 2017 at 19:10Dear experts,I am totally new to STM8, but got a task to complete. Please be kind and explain in simple layman terms...I have a project in ST Visual Develop, made by someone else. It has two parts: a bootloader (which I was told not to touch for now,  it is already flashed in the device) and the 'main' firmware. The build is successful. But when I try to start debugger, it pops up the following:ST Visual DevelopGDI Error: For better debugging performance, the user bootcode size must be reduced. You need to change the UBC optionSo, the question is, what is the UBC option? Where it can be changed? Does it mean that I need to do something with the bootloader project? The microcontroller model is STM8L101G3U with Cosmic compiler. The debugger device is a white USB dongle with ST logo on it.Any ideas? Thanks in advance, ddbug#debugging
