MEMS and sensors

Hello,I am using a LSM6DSO32 on a custom board.  As an attempt to save power in sleep mode we want to place the device in ULP (ultra low power mode) as specified by the datasheet.  I have attached my function that initializes the device in ULP mode and enables wake up interrupt.  I see the same power draw wether or notctrl5.xl_ulp_mode is set.  Can anyone advise what I am doing wrong. Thanks!-Jamie

I purchased a  P-NUCLEO-53L5A1 kit and successfully used it to collect data for depth estimation with the help of Quick start guide. But I have noticed that if I used STSW-IMG024, GUI for L5, to get collected data, I would receive a .csv document and it is shown like this:As I know, from some papers that describe principle of TOF sensors, raw data collected by L5 can be arranged as a HISTOGRAM with 100 bins. So how can I get this HISTOGRAM data (or depth data of each bin) but not just a sigma and median from a fitted normal distribution?

I am using the VL53L4CD for my current project and I would like to add acrylic glas cover to it. I am actually using 4 of the ToF Sensors and would like to cover all of them with one glas. What type of glas can be used here, are there any known limits? Somehow I found a little glas which was provided by you but I can not find it anymore. It was black and I would like to know the specifications of it so I can also use a black cover glas but as a hole and not one by one. Thanks

Hello. I made all the adjustments for my STEVAL kit. I also installed the necessary binary file in the Wifi module (Dsh predmnt). According to the guide I gave in the link, I stay on page 12 step 8. When I enter the wifi id password, it does not connect. My wifi module just lights up yellow red. Can you help me why the problem is caused?I installed the DSH-PREDMNT binary file only on the wifi module. I did not install it on the STEVAL kit. could the problem be caused by this?

Hi Everyone, Below Linux driver for LSM6DSL device has no method to read the temperature sensor. https://elixir.bootlin.com/linux/latest/source/drivers/iio/imu/st_lsm6dsxIs there a complete Linux driver which reads the temperature as well?thanks,

Hello everyone,I have designed a custom PCB with STM32WB15CC. I am using two sensors (VL53L1X and MPU6050). I am using CR2032 coin cell as a supply and I have big problems with the battery management. The project example is using sequencer and what I want to do is to take a single shot measurement with the VL53L1X sensor and then put the device to sleep until a wakeup command is received via bluetooth characteristics. What is the best way to implement this behavior when using sequencer? The program behaves as expected when testing on NUCLEO-WB15CC. I first initialize the sensors and then use timer to trigger a function which returns accelerometer values. Then I check if I receive desired threshold values to call VL53L1X measurement. This is implemented in p2p_server_app.c. I would like to call the most convenient function to save power while keeping bluetooth connection alive since I want to wake up the device and do the same steps again when I send a command. Please see atta

Hi,I have two LPS28DFW in my application. The absolute value as well as the difference is important here. I noticed that there is a difference of around 30 Pa. Is it reasonable to assume that this difference is roughly constant in the future? I tested it for around 5000 seconds (see attached scatter plot and histogram for the difference) and it was pretty stable (sensor temperature was ~31°C in both cases). I am also going to test it for a longer time period but I'd like to know from a theoretical standpoint if I can assume this to be roughly constant and if I can use this for a "factory calibration" of my application to improve accuracy. Thanks for your help.

Hi! I hope somebody can help me. I am trying to get the sensory_tnl example of the X-Cube-LocalVUI package on the STM32H747I-DISCO with the STEVAL$MIC008AA (dual MEMS Microphones) board working. Unfortunately, I cannot get any audio signals although this is presented in the "Customizable embedded voice recognition solutions without external connectivity" webinar by ST. It does work with the internal microphone on the discovery board but as soon as I try to switch to the external ones, I cannot seem to get an input signal. As there is no guideline how this should work, can somebody give me a hint which macros I could try change in the code?

Hi!We are a group trying to get reliable rotation data out of the LSM6DSV16X sensor. The accumulated error values in the datasheet seemed promising. However, we are currently in a state, where the sensor is returning gyroscope data, but the actual observed drift is much higher (upwards of 20 degrees of drift over the period of 5 minutes).I'll try to summarize what we are doing, but the code for the project can be found here .We are setting up the ODR for the gyroscope and the accelerometer to be 120Hz, as that is our polling frequency. We then set the BDR of the SFLP to be also at that frequency. We then run through the FIFO every iteration, extract out the relevant data and send it to our server software, where it gets displayed. This part works, we get about 120 updates every second, and the actual rotation data seems accurate. However if the sensor is continuously moved over 5 minutes, we get unacceptably big drift. We are currently only really using the fusioned game vector for this

Greetings,I have been trying to read the sensors from the ISM330DLC using its FIFO. However, when reading the number of samples (FIFO_STATUS1/2), it remains 0 with just dataset 1 and 2 enabled. When enabling dataset 4 with either, or and temperature and timestamp, the FIFO fills as expected. Note that im able to poll the sensor values with expected results.I have included all my register settings below, using the standard c-library: https://github.com/STMicroelectronics/STMems_Standard_C_drivers/tree/master/ism330dlc_STdC   /* Enable Block Data Update */  ism330dlc_block_data_update_set(&dev_ctx, PROPERTY_ENABLE);   /* Set full scale */   ism330dlc_xl_full_scale_set(&dev_ctx, ISM330DLC_2g);    ism330dlc_gy_full_scale_set(&dev_ctx, ISM330DLC_500dps); /* Set wtm */    ism330dlc_fifo_watermark_set(&dev_ctx, 100);/* accelerometer filtering chain */    ism330dlc_xl_lp1_bandwidth_set(&dev_ctx,ISM33

Hi I have a questionI am using asm330lhh gyroscopeThe sensor is great but I see some kind of low frequency behavior in the data from this sensorMy ODR is 6667 range is 500The accuracy is good, but this low frequency behavior will eventually cause problems for my workPlease help me... Did I ignore something?!!

Dear team,I'm using ASM330LHB for Electronics Brake control project. Please clarify my queries to use this ASIC in our application. How the ASIC is claimed as ASIL-B? Is there any redundancy in the ASIC itself? How the error detection and error reaction is handled & What is the safety mechanism? What is the single point & latest point fault metric? Please share if there is any safety analysis like FMEDA & FMEA.It would be better if u share internal block diagram to explain this. What is your proposed interface circuit to microcontroller to achieve ASIL-D?

hello tout le monde, im worknig on audio project im trying to get data from a pdm microphone as pcm 8 bit and transmit the data via uart  as binary but when i transfer the data from binary to audio via audacity i can hear just noise nothing else, also i can hear when i stop the microphone ,im using pcm2pdm library my i2s clock frequency is 3mhz which still in the range of the microphone .uart baud rate is 115200 and over sampling is 16 , i will be grateful if someone can help with this issue thakns, /* USER CODE BEGIN Header *//**  ******************************************************************************  * @file           : main.c  * @brief          : Main program body  ******************************************************************************  * @attention  *  * Copyright (c) 2023 STMicroelectronics.  * All rights reserved.  *  * This software is licensed u

When looking at a chart of integrated single-axis gyro data with a completely stationary sensor, I noticed that there are fairly large jumps once in a while.Since this doesn't look like brownian motion with normally distributed steps, I plotted a histogram of the raw gyro data and got the following:In the center seems to be an expected almost-normal distribution of sensor noise with a bias in the expected range. However, there are strange secondary peaks at around ±220. What could be the cause of such a strange noise distribution?PS: The gyro was run at FS=±250dps / 8.75dps/lsb and 1666Hz

Hi,I purchased the P-NULCEO-53L4A1 package and am testing it to use Liquid Level Monitoring.I have downloaded STSW-IMG039 and am referencing AN5851 and STSW-IMG039-L4CD.pdf.I used the provided GUI Tool (GUILiquidLevel.exe) for Nonliearity correction. The test container and environment are shown below. (I placed a black object on the bottom of the container to lower the floor reflectivity)config.txt is shown below.--------------------------firmware=VL53L4CDOCalgorithm=0totalheight=200offsetcalibration=100indicators=10characterization=2turbu_det_std=20--------------------------Referring to page 3 of STSW-IMG039-L4CD.pdf, when the indicators was set to 5, 4 measurement levels (10, 20, 30, 40%) were created, but the distance values of the characterization plot did not match. Therefore, the indicator of config.txt was set to 10 and proceeded. (ex, if the total height is 200, the distance of 10% should be 180) During non-linear correction, the Characterzation button changed from Le

Hi,I am implementing the pedometer function using LSM6DSOX.According to the driver file provided by ST, there are three different modes to configure. I want to know the difference between them. I cannot find any information in the datasheet.Appreciate your help!

My board is having the accelerometer device ism330dlc. I am trying to write the value 0x4a to CTRL1_XL(10h).I am using the default  accelerometer driver :https://github.com/torvalds/linux/tree/master/drivers/iio/imu/st_lsm6dsxI set the sampling frequency to 104000 and then I write the value 0xa to CTRL1_XL. When I check the i2cdump, I can see that the value of register 10h is set to 4a. But when I try to read the values of in_accel_x_raw, in_accel_y_raw, in_accel_z_raw , I can see the value of CTRL1_XL(10h) is getting overwritten. Could you please let me know how can I keep the value of CTRL1_XL constant without being overwritten when trying to access other register values?

Hi,When bring up sensors on steval-mki128v6,  for accelerometer and gyro,  read out who_am_i value is 0x6A, which means lsm6dsm. I can use user application to get samples. But I can't find any steval-mki128v6 document online.V5 is lsm6ds3, V7 is lsm6dso, what's for V6? lsm6dsm?Thanks

We are observing that LSM6DSV FIFO Timestamp is drifting at a constant rate when Gyro sensor is enabled. Our ImplementationWe are using 6-axis IMU sensor LSM6DSV with st_lsm6dsvx driver from ST GitHub and integrated with OSD32MP157 SiP.We've modified the original driver to configure the sensor as follows:- Configure the ODR-triggered mode as per sec 3.3 of Application note AN5922. - Configure the Timestamp resolution by using the INTERNAL_FREQ_FINE register value and formula as per sec 6.4 of Application note AN5922. - Configure the accel and gyro to operate in one of the following power modes:  High-accuracy ODR mode at 25Hz as per Table 11 and Table 14 of Application note AN5922.  ODR-triggered mode at 25Hz as per Table 15 of Application note AN5922.We've NOT configured the actual ODR using the INTERNAL_FREQ_FINE register value as we are using ODR-triggered mode. The selected ODR for both accel and gyro is set to 25 Hz.For ODR-triggered mode, we generate an Externa

I am using stm32wl55 controller to Calculate Analog reference voltage using vref macro, which is defined as follows:#define __HAL_ADC_CALC_VREFANALOG_VOLTAGE(__VREFINT_ADC_DATA__,\                                          __ADC_RESOLUTION__) \__LL_ADC_CALC_VREFANALOG_VOLTAGE((__VREFINT_ADC_DATA__),\                                 (__ADC_RESOLUTION__)) 1) Calling a function to get the analog voltage value using: GetBatteryVoltage(){    static VVG_HAL::AdcValue    value(GetAdc(), ADC_CHANNEL_VREFINT, AdcVrefintToVoltage);    return value;}/** *  Scale an Vrefint ADC input to voltage */float   AdcVrefintToVoltage(float adcVal){    // __HAL_ADC_CALC_VREFANALOG_VOLTAGE returns millivolts    return float(__HAL_ADC_CALC_VREFAN

Hello,I have a problem with the Gesture Evaluation Kit v1.4.0(EVK from now on) in combination with Nucleo F401RE and VL53L8CX ToF sensor. After uploading the binary file that comes with EVK, the GUI app sees the comport that Nucleo is connected to, but when trying to connect, it says that there is no response. There is no problem like this using same version of EVK and same Nucleo in pair with VL53L5CX ToF.

Hello Community,I am unsure what the ODR will be for the IIS3DWB sensor when we select the bandwidth of ODR/4.Kindly suggest the relationships if available, I did not find any mention in the datasheet except for Table 45.Are there any setting to select the ODR for the sensor? Is ODR autoselected as some multiple of the Bandwidth? Or is ODR always 26kHz irrespective of the bandwidth?Regards

Hi,I have spent the last 2 weeks working on a project with the STM32F102CBT6 that includes the MP34DT06J MEMS microphone, but so far I have been unable to get it to output a valid PDM data stream. I have tried using both the SPI1 in master receive mode, as well as generating a 2MHz clock signal using the TIM2 channel 2 PWM functionality, but in both cases reading the DOUT pin of the mic shows an occasional spike, but no real data. There is the exception that within the 1st 20ms of powering up the device it appears to be outputting data, but then it returns to a seemingly idle state. For the mic I've connected pin 1 to 3.3V, pin 2 to ground, pin 3 to pin PB3 of the STM, and pin 4 to pin PB4 of the MCU. Has anyone run into this problem before?

Hello,I am trying to develop an audio classification through a decision tree in unico GUI platform using the mlc for lsm6dsox. I have the B-l475E-IOT01A motherboard and I want to know if it is possible to use the sensor LSM6DSOX with this motherboard. This is because when I connect the motherboard to the computer and then try to open Unico GUI selecting the device LSM6DSOX I get the message:  Does anybody know if I have to do anything in order to use this sensor wit the mentioned motherboard? Thank you
