hi all,

first of, I just got my STM32VL Discovery. And it looks nice!

I took it out, pluged it in and an played with the buttons..

NICE!

Next step: (5 on the cardboard btw)

to study or modify the DISCOVER project related to this simple demo,

visit www.st.com/stm32-discovery and follow the tutorial.

Nice try but a 404 is given..

After some google search I decided to download Atollic.

I find the st tutorial and think I'm all set.

Guess again.. the tutorial says I have to go to the stm32vl_discovery directory..

But I can't find it (how could I, I didn't even downloaded something from st).

Anyways, my google search starts again, and by wonder I stumble upon the an3268 package. I hate to say it, but this is sh*t, how could I knew this? I never, ever found a download location. I didn't even got the hint that I had to download something..

But I'm set, atleast I think..

in the next step I need to add a variable path.. It points to a FIRMWARE folder,.. NICE, but where the hell is it located? I couldn't find it, so I suppose it's another download link...

But where in earth can I find it? One thing is certain, NOT in the tutorial..

PS: can someone pls give me that link.. it's kind of frustrating..

The site is in transition

Here is the new discovery page, files under Design Support tab

http://www.st.com/internet/evalboard/product/250863.jsp

http://www.st.com/internet/evalboard/product/250863.jsp

Firmware source/libraries

http://www.st.com/internet/com/SOFTWARE_RESOURCES/SW_COMPONENT/FIRMWARE/an3268.zip

http://www.st.com/internet/com/SOFTWARE_RESOURCES/SW_COMPONENT/FIRMWARE/an3268.zip

These need to be unzipped in a suitable place, with Keil under Examples\ST worked for me.

I wouldn't touch Atollic Lite, it doesn't support project files, and building stuff for the VL board was a battle. Keil was easier, but embedded stuff generally assumes you can use, or are familiar, with the tools.

''The site is in transition''

From something that was usable to something that is not!

:(

Note that the

http://www.st.com/stm32-discovery

URL has now been fixed.

But I'm sure you'll not be the only one to be seriously frustrated by this gross stupidity on ST's part! Especially as it coincides with the launch of two design contests (that I know of)!!

See the following thread for discussion about the dreadful new website:

''I wouldn't touch Atollic Lite, it doesn't support project files''

It also completely prevents you from using printf!

That's not just that it doesn't come with a complete implementation, so you have to write your own - they have specifically disabled the facilities needed to allow you to use it at all!!

''I selected the Atollic option based on the fact that it has no code size restrictions and therefore seemed to be the most capable''

See above!

''It also completely prevents you from using printf!''

Maybe that's what they mean in the feature comparison guide?

I/O redirection of runtime library - not in Lite version

Yes - I think so.

I have to say that my first impression with the redesigned st.com site that it must have been designed by nxp or one of st's competitors.

it is so bad and so hard to use that there is no other explanation.

Please keep comments about the new website in the specific thread about it:

[DEAD LINK /public/STe2ecommunities/e2efeedback/Lists/General%20comments%20and%20feedback/Flat.aspx?RootFolder=/public/STe2ecommunities/e2esupport/Lists/General%20comments%20and%20feedback/Website%20Wrecked%21&FolderCTID=0x01200200770978C69A1141439FE559EB459D75800012C78846220B4D4494A7455BB1CA77C0&currentviews=292]https://my.st.com/public/STe2ecommunities/e2esupport/Lists/General%20comments%20and%20feedback/Flat.aspx?RootFolder=/public/STe2ecommunities/e2esupport/Lists/General%20comments%20and%20feedback/Website%20Wrecked!&FolderCTID=0x01200200770978C69A1141439FE559EB459D75800012C78846220B4D4494A7455BB1CA77C0&currentviews=292

That way ST can see all the posts together - rather than have them ''hidden'' in other threads.
